Need Suggestions to build first system . Budget ~ 80k

Hello Everyone,

Sorry for late post, but I was busy with some personal work since few months. Here is brief summary of my purchase.

I finally decided to with WIM PRO Plus + Audiolab 7000A + Linton 85th with Stands. Purchased all items from HiFimart. Before buying this I auditioned five combinations KEF LS50 Meta + CXA61, DALI Oberon 5 + CXA61, Wharfedale 12.3 + Audiolab 7000A, Denon Amp(Forgot model no) + Indiq Audio Diamond Anchal. And finally decided to go with above combination. Overall sound quality is good and fuller side but sometimes I miss those highs and details of LS50. Vocals/Mid Range is really good. I don't miss subwoofer at all. Overall I am happy with my setup but definitely would like to experiment with DACs and if wife permits mono-blocks. But that will be down the line.

Many thanks to FM for valuable guidance and dealers for providing opportunity to demo. This is freaking awesome community !!

Happy Listening.
What happened to your budget ??? from the Hifimart site, the prices quoted for these seems to be way above your budget ..

Sorry for late reply. I Initially started with 80K budget but was total noob that time. As soon as I started auditioning, I realized that in this budget, it is very difficult to get the sound signature I am looking for. I also spoke with few FM to understand their experience and suggestion. Finally I ended up in adjusting my budget. Still not 100% convinced about the investment but I had to take a leap of faith somewhere.

This combo will keep you happy for years.
Lintons are a bit polite. Maybe not great for EDM type of music. But for classic rock, jazz, blues, bollywood, Indian classical and vocals, difficult to find a better combo at this price.

I am owning a Denon X250BT coupled with Taga harmony 606 as 5.0 and bought the sub with Mission's MS 200, and i dont regret the decision!..

it all costed me (including the setup, wires etc) about INR 96k in Jan 2022.

Breakdown:
a. AVR, bought from a retailer - 40k
b. Taga 606: as a 5.0 speaker package - 34.2k from amazon
c. Mission MS 200 as the sub - 16.5k from Hifimart

I primarily use it for watching OTT content in dolby digital 5.1 (note the AVR doesnt suppprt Atmos) and for music also, it sounds really good.
HI, I am also planning to make a 5.1 system and i found your config fits in my budget very well. Can you tell me about it long term experience? I am considering the x250bt and x580bt. I am also considering the Taga 506 v2 5.0 setup from AVkart. I am still searching for a sub but i dnt have any budget left for it. I might upgrade it afterwards

It's been extremely good and I'm completely satisfied. Initially everyone in my home thought it's a waste of money but now after these 3y they're loving the experience so much that they even stopped visiting cinema halls for movies, instead prefer to watch at home, telling they're feeling almost similar on the experience front.
So it's an investment worthy of it, i would say.
On a budget wise, i did a small math, which lead me to this:
I usually take my family to movies twice a month or so. A single run would cost me 1000-1200₹ around.
2 x 1000 = 2000 a month, snacks, petrol and parking charges, comes around 1200. So almost 3200 a month.
3200 x 12 = 38400 for a year.

For 3y - 38400 x 3 = 1,15,200
Investment i did = 96,000.

So it's a win-win situation for me. However few movies are meant for theatrical experience, and i don't mind taking that 3-4 movies a year for that experience.

That said, if you don't want Atmos, you can simply go for the humble X250bt, where it'll cover most of the bases providing an immersive experience for sure, also cost effective as well.
You may try Taga's 5.0 package and perhaps get a sub later too, as the front firing towers are themselves kinda good on delivering adequate bass.

You can add a sub later, if you're short of budget for now.

Ping me if you need any further info.

Another imp thing - pls buy at least a servo stabilizer in case if you are living in a semi urban/developing area to negate the voltage fluctuation issues.

Hello All,

I am new to this field and would like to build my first stereo system. My requirements/constraints are as follow.

Budget:- budget around 80K(INR) [Primarily for Speakers + AMP]
Music taste:- Rock, Soft rock, Pop, jazz, occasionally Indian Classical, Bollywood (Old and New)
Room size:- 10x12 ft. Its a study room. I will be using it with laptop.
Tile flooring, One bed, One three door metal cupboard. I will be placing my speakers on dedicated speaker stand (not included in above budget)

Speakers:
Based on various online reviews I am inclined to buy Elac B5.2 and Elac B6.2 as soundstage and imaging along with clarity matters to me. But I am open for suggestions.
I have considered following options
1. JBL Stage A130
2. DALI Spektor 1 or 2
3. Q Acoustics 3020i

Questions:
1) Let me know how these speakers compares with ELAC 5.2/6.2.
2) One of my friend suggested me to opt for Studio Monitors i.e. YAMAHA HS5 (~35k). Since above speakers costs more or less same, I am more inclined towards passive speakers. Do you think Studio Monitors will be better choice over ELAC ?
3) I have not come across any critical reviews on Mission (LX II MK II/LX 3 MKII) & FYNE (F 300i) Speakers. Appreciate if you can give any idea.

Amplifiers:
Primary Source: Apple Music on (Windows PC + Android App using Bluetooth) + Youtube Music Occasionally. I understand that for some options additional DAC is required. I will stretch my budget in case I go for that.
This is most confusing area for me. I am new into this hobby hence don't want to spend too much. But at the same time looking for best compatibility with ELAC speakers. Max Budget is ~ 55K.
I have considered following options.
1) Chi Fi -- Thought process: It seems Chinese products will allow me to build system at lesser cost with flexibility to replace components in future. But I am not sure whether they will be able to get best out of speakers.
a) SMSL AO300
b) FOSSI AUDIO V3
c) AIYIMA T09 Pro
d) TOPPING - PA5
3) Traditional Brands:
a) Denon PMA 600NE
b) Marantz PM6007
4) AV Receivers : Considering ~ 55K price bracket, I can see that following AVRs also fit in my budget and they cover additional use case of connecting system to TV. Note: I am looking at this system to enhance TV audio. Not considering full Cinema Experience e.g. 5.1 or Dolby. But if they provide good compatibility with speakers then why not !
a) Denon X250BT
b) Denon X550BT
c) Marantz NR1510
d) Marantz NR1200
e) Marantz NR1711

I am open to all the suggestions and I am not in any hurry to buy. Thanks in advance.
Hi, if it's for music listening then don't consider AVRs. Consider buying an Integrated Amp or Stereo Amp only. With your budget, I will suggest going for Marantz PM6007 as it is a Class A+B amp. I have this one for the past 3 to 4 years and it's really a good one when comes to music output and quality.

You've made an excellent choice - I heard this very combination at the hifimart office in Colaba last week and i was really impressed with the performance - its a sweet, rich and insightful sound.
Overall I am happy with my setup but definitely would like to experiment with DACs and if wife permits mono-blocks. But that will be down the line.
On experimenting with DACs, use the internal DAC of the 7000A as opposed to the one on the Wiim Pro Plus.

Since the 7000A has HDMI, i would also encourage you to check out Apple Music on the new Apple TV 4K. It sounds phenomenal, especially in reproducing the air in the highs.

If you are using Apple music as source and a DAC, then I would suggest to get a RaspberryPI and install "shairport" to use Airplay. This offers convenience as you can Airplay from any apple device and offers great audio quality equivalent to having a apple TV or directly connecting laptop via USB to DAC.
