Folks,
I am planning to buy a new TV with 3D within 85k.
I would prefer a 50incher plasma or atleast 46inch LED.

Which one is better? I am having confusion between following.

Samsung UA46EH5030R LED TV: Sells for around 75k
Panasonic 50UT50D PLASMA TV: Sells for around 75k
Sony 46HX750 LED TV: Sells for around 90k
Samsung 51E550 PLASMA TV: Sells for around 75k
Samsung 51E8000 PLASMA TV: Sells for around 92k

I was more inclined towards Sony due to excellent PQ but is bit expensive.
Samsung 51E550 is great as well but felt PQ was bit downside compared to others.

Any good shops in Bangalore where I can get good deals / better prices.

Typical usage:
Regular / HD Cable TV: 40 - 60%
Gaming: 10 - 15%
Movies: 20 - 30%
3D: 5 - 10%

Mate, if 75% of your time is gonna be SD & gaming then I would recommend an LED/LCD....both of these might become a problem (IR / burn in) for you on a plasma set no matter how much care you take...

My pick in no particular order :

Panasonic 50ST50D PLASMA TV:
Panasonic 50UT50D PLASMA TV: Sells for around 75k
Sony 46HX850 LED TV: Sells for around 90k
Samsung 51E8000 PLASMA TV: Sells for around 92k

Depending on budget, I would pick from the above. These are some of the best tv's in the market with excellent pic quality.

Suggest you to go through as many reviews available online and then demo the tv's with SD/HD/3D content and then decide. Some tv's do better with SD while some do better with HD. btw if you want Sony please consider the HX850, nothing less than that. I understand prices are falling so you might get a good deal.

General consensus is that Plasma handles 3D better which is why it is best to see what your eyes prefer.

46HX850 for 90K.. is a real good deal.. I think at that price you can get 46HX750, right?

46HX850 costs around 1lac normally, unless there is any specific stock clearance somewhere..

If you can stretch go for 46HX750, else there is another good 2D model, 46Ex630, which is also good. I don't think plasmas are good for gaming as far as I have read in various posts here. Plasma gurus can throw more light on this.

As far as I know, 46HX850 was selling at between 1.15L to 1.18L. If you are getting it around 1 L, that is a very good deal. 46HX750 costs lesser than HX850. For gaming, it is a known truth that plasma is not for that. If watching movies is your priority (either HD or SD), Plasma is the way. For gaming, LED is the way .. you can blindly go for 46HX850 if you get it for a very good rate. If HX850 stocks are not available, then do an audition between Sony 46HX750 and Samsung UA46EH5030R.

Actually someone got it for 1.1 lacs.. So even if someone gets any stock clearence then the best price to be around 1 lacs.. definitely no way at 90k. I agree normally it costs around 1.15-1.2 lacs and is gem of a TV.

i would not prefer plasma for mainly sd and gaming...
it is for dedicated movie watchers.....no led can beat it...even double priced walas...

but as i said..for sd and gamiong ....go for leds..

Thats right I got a quote of 1.06 lakhs from reliance digital for 46Hx850 with additional 2year ResQ warranty. By the time I decided to buy it went out of stock in all Rel outlets.
Also you can get 46Hx750 for around 81,000.

Tomorrow, I am planning to visit a Sony outlet in search of HX-850 for a friend of mine. Today I checked in croma and a couple of multi-brandshops and unfortunately there were no stocks.

Sony has started to introduce the new W series (2013 models). So all the old models are likely to be taken off. HX series is definitely going out. So anyone interested in buying the HX series this might be a good time to negotiate for a great price if and only if there is any stock available. Anyway happy hunting.

hey, im also from bangalore and was trying to find sony hx850 40" so if you find a good deal for it (clearance sale), do let me know by PM'ing here or on my gmail which i have messaged you just now !

and only deal i got is from infibeam Sony-Bravia-3D-TV-40HX850

its at 82k

I got Pana 50UT50 and believe me 3D watching is just <1% in last 8-9 months. Its not just worth to watch 3D in 50". Its good to have but its not a must have.

Among the choice you have given, certainly can go for either Panasonic or Samsung. Being neutral I believe 51E8000 is a steal at that price.

@OP - Can you please tell me from where you got these pricing?
Even I'm looking to buy either 50UT50 or 51E8000 or any better plasma for less than 90K.
