I am looking for new 1200 mm ceiling fans for replacement of my old Alstom fans. The old fans are almost 9-10 years old and few fans bearing were to be replaced.

Now a days decorative ceiling fans have come out. I have surfed the net and found that Havells has very good range of them. But I may stick to plain white fans with energy efficiency and good air flow.

Can you guys suggest good energy efficient plain looking white ceiling fan. Popular brands are Crompton Greaves, Havells, Usha, Orient, Khaitan, Bajaj etc. Which brand do you use and are satisfied with its air flow?

I have put on Havells fans in all rooms of my flat when I shifted about more than 1.5 years ago. I had purchased 7 of them and all of them are performing perfectly. (Though not much of time)
4 of them were decorative and 3 normal white ones which come by name of 'Pacer'. (since I do not like decorative fans in bedrooms). IIRC, the Pacer were priced at about 1850/- each and the decorative ones were close to 2.4K each.

I went in for plain white full-size ORTEM fans for two of my rooms recently. They replaced two very old, heavy, yet very robustly built ORIENT fans of the mid 70s. However, my electrician informed that fans nowadays need bearing replacement every 5 years on the average.

Must say, the Ortem fans to be superior to the ones from Crompton.

Is there any ceiling fan than is silent ?? or makes less noise ? I need to replace the fan in the room where I listen to music ....

As I understand you are complaining about noise created by Air turbulence.
In India the manufacturers/buyers pay attention to looks and price only. Now a days ratio of Air flow is to power consumed is in hype but no one has a concern over the noise level created by Fan.

Sorry to say you will not get anything less noisy from Indian Manufacturers . The only fan available in India which I know, and has little advantage in noise level over mass market Fan is Hunter Fans [marketed by Usha International in India], starting range around 14,000/-.

Leaving the excellent designs apart
Any one has idea on the technologically advanced BLDC fans with decent fit and finish
BLDC consumes approx 30watt for the same air flow(300% efficient?)

As for silent fans the good designed tower fans are very silent.
even blade-less fans too

But can anyone suggest energy efficient fans in the market, also with good wide airflow, I want to replace my decades old giant usha fan which has slowed down over the years...

Congrats on the superfan.. do let us all know about the performance. The two main things I was impressed with (as per their claims) are:
1. Low power consumption of 35 watts compared to 75 watts for same airflow.
2. Constant speed irrespective of voltage fluctuations.

Will count on your experience before deciding on it.

Hi cha_indian,

Since it's been about two weeks, I am guessing you would have got the fan by now. Have you received the fan and started using it? Is the performance up to expectations? Want to know your feedback.

Thanks,
Uday

This is to update you all that I ordered the fan and curretly i am using it. The fan is just like any other fan....nothing special about it. It comes with a flimsy remote control that looks very delicate and cheap. There is no way to control the fan without the remote. I feel that this is the biggest drawback of this fan.

So how can we check whether it is really using the 35W as claimed by the company ??

I have wondered that too. But I guess I'd believe the 35 Watt thing.

I ordered one myself from the superfan website couple weeks ago and it's awesome. My biggest problem was the low voltage thing in Chennai and this has solved that - the fan runs at full speed irrespective of input voltage. I can actually see it right there. The other fans are struggling to run and this one's going around happily. I have ordered two more now (and will order a fourth one later).

Does anyone know how to measure the wattage?

No update of this thread for long time.!

I have purchased a couple of atomberg BLDC fans last year. The model I purchased was IKANO and the price then was Rs.6400 for 2 (after discounts). Total 3-year warranty (2 year + 1 year extension once you register the warranty online) for the fan, which is good.

The fans were working very well without any complaints until May 24 when a lightning hit my house and both these fans went dead. A complaint was made through the dealer and technician attended within 24 hours, changed the circuit board and the fans started working.

Since then there is no complaint at all and both the fans are working fine.
