After that park bench Crossley, this is my first serious purchase in Vinyl. I am delighted to get this lovely turntable I had heard a year ago in a showroom. Thought I'l share some pictures for now and keep you posted on the music some days later. Clearly its analog time for me!

Very nice......congratulations on the new TT!

Do post more photographs, as well as sound impressions. What does the rest of your sound chain consist of?

It will be nice if you can pen down some sound comparisons with other TTs that you have heard/own(ed).

Best,
apk

An outstanding turntable for the money. While it can benefit from a cartridge upgrade, the supplied MC cartridge is pretty good too. How much did you pay for it? FM reignofchaos got it (not the wood version) for a shade over 90k but this was 3 years ago.

I have Focal Chorus 726V and CA CXR200. The phono stage is Clearaudio Nano V2. The Nano and CXR are connected by Supra DAC-SL interconnect.

I have set it up but not concentrating on the sound. Needed to get the hum away, which I managed by removing the Powerline adapter which was fixed close to it. When I take my ears close to the speaker I hear a little hiss through the tweeter. Don't know if thats a given or can be removed. Cleaned the records with a brush but still get some crackling, so will probably give them a proper cleaning before playing again.

As for comparisons, I am not in a place to. This is the first TT I own, that is of any repute. Crossley like I said is for picnics. But definitely will give my lowdown on sound once I have played a few more records. On the start, I played Eric Clapton and Friends. The sound stage was good but too many niggling issues I mentioned were occurring. Once these are sorted I'll be in a position of fair comment.

Is your suggestion for Verify or Satisfy? This is an MM cartridge.

I paid 1.30. Concept is available for 1.06 to 1.10. Depending on negotiation with the distributor. They however don't budge on Wood after a point.

Last night I played Fleetwood Mac Greatest Hits and Cold Play's A head Full of Dreams. This was also the first time I was listening to wired music, so apart from the TT, I heard CXR200's full potential with music. It completely immersed the room with beautiful balanced sound. The bass which always felt a little weak when I played music wirelessly through Pi3 came alive. The vocals were pristine and the lyrics were there to be heard. I especially noticed this as I myself did not know the lyrics of most of the Cold Play songs. The instrumental crescendos created the desired effect putting the mids and highs in a good light. So far, so good. I am excited about this TT.

Not sure I follow you.

I was under the impression it came fitted with a MC cartridge. You say it comes with a MM cartridge.

Concept comes with a Verify arm and Wood with Satisfy. So was wondering which arm cartridge you were referring to when to 'it benefitting from a cartridge upgrade'.

It does come with a MC cartridge. But I have never heard one. I loved the sound of MM and went for it. The interwebs forums weren't much help as there are tons of sayers for both.

hi

please do put up a pic of your setup..

will be nice to see

regards

Sure will do soon.

hi terrible..

whats the distance between the speakers ?

i see a hard floor - tried any rugs yet ?

maybe you may like to keep the TT dust free by using an transparent acrylic sheet fabricated around the TT.

and where is the subwoofer located ?

njoi !!

regards

The distance is around 9 to 9 and a half feet between the two.

And no I have not tried rugs as I have been pretty satisfied with the sound. But might be a good idea to check out the difference.

The TT came with a Clearaudio acrylic dust cover. I clicked when I was playing it, hence not in the photo. Though I hate the cover as it has Plexiglass written all over it.

The subwoofer is on the left of the left floor standing. I did a subwoofer crawl to find a good position.

Mine was some sort of limited edition and came with a Concept MC cartridge on the verify tonearm instead of the standard Concept MM. I guess that's what sandeepmohan was referring to.
