Computer Audio

I feel computer audio can be a part of HTPC. After all we are going to talk about sound cards, computer audio power supplies, silent fans etc.
there can be another forum for format wars (for both audio and video), low res, hi-es, mp3, wma, mkv etc etc.

I disagree. Most of the threads there are on HTPC, XMBC, etc. Nothing much about how to set up a PC for stereo.

Of course I have learned a lot about a stereo PC on this forum but its better that it have its own forum/section instead of one having to dig through HTPC threads (which one might not be interested in).

Computer Audio is very complex indeed. With minimal knowledge, there are several "experts" once can come across. Even internationally, it is as yet a little understood subject. Audio Asylum has had one for long. To have HT and CA mixed up is not great.

t is as yet a little understood subject.
It has been understood for more than a decade. obviously it needs a forum for these discussions! ;)

So... which way am I arguing? That there is not as much to say about it as people want or think there is, or that we should have a whole forum?

Computer audio is propagating a whole new generation of audio mythology. We'd better have a forum to discuss it :D

Seriously... I vote for separate HTPC (which barely interests some of us at all) and Audio-PC forums, please --- with a humble request to the mods to populate it with existing threads on the topic.

Excellent idea. We have been doing all our Genelec DSP system demos with bit perfect computer audio from laptops using Kernel Streaming & ASIO on Windows XP. On Vista & Win7 we have been using ASIO & WASAPI. For our PC setups we have been using Foobar and for our MAC setups we have been using Amarra. All the above playing through MOTU Microbook soundcards. Its quite easy to setup and use and very economical for the sound quality obtained

We are sure that most members on this forum, at some point, would be interested in detailed information on the computer audio subject

In the home page "Recent Threads" section, no threads from "Computer Audio" sub-forum is appearing (even though there are some recent updates in the forum).
