Hi All,

I'm new to this forum. Wish you all a Very Happy New Year.

I want to buy new Monitor for my desktop. I've a question and few requirements.

Question: Can I use HD LED TV as Monitor for my desktop?
Is it fine for eyes if we use TV as Monitor. I have googled and found
in some portals that TV is not prefarable for monitor purpose.

Requirements.
I'm going to use it for browsing & reading most of the time and for watching videos and playing games available onlilne for less time. Not able to decide which size is better for viewing min 20inch to 24 inches. Please suggest which one will be better.
Is there any Monitor avaibale in India having plug and play usb port on monitor for playing movies without cpu. Please suggest if any.

PLease suggest which monitor is best.

PLease also suggest Audio system for desktop and home purpose having usb plug and play port. Is sound bar is ok? My budget is 15000 includeing both.

Please suggest the best options available in india.

Thanks

a tv can be used as a PC monitor however will you using a wifi keyboard and then working on it from little distance or it will used like a normal pc monitor. if so then get a pc monitor and avoid tv from that close.

a 22-24 inch monitor will be around 10 or less..

you can check the prices on deltapage/thenehruitplace

around 18k or so you can get a 32 inch lcd from toshiba etc . very basic ones but will do the job..

take a call on either of them after deciding the viewing distance.

I had once connected my 40" TV with my laptop/ computer. Watching movies from a distance was fine but I found it very irritating to surf the internet from a close distance as the display was too large. May be I should have used a wireless keyboard and mouse.

I believe for normal pc use, a 20-22" display is fine. I have a 22" monitor.

TV is not preferable as it is not so good for text.
After much research, I bought a Dell U2312HM (Ultrasharp 23" 2012 model) about an year ago and it is excellent for both text and video.
It has USB ports but no speakers and no HDMI. It has a connector for a Dell soundbar. No idea of availability or price.

My viewing distance is 24-26" and I think I could even use a 27" monitor!
23/24" should be good for your distance.

Be cautious with Dell if you want HDMI. Many of even their current models do not have it. They have DVI and Displayport. Adapters are easily available, though.

One peculiarity with screen size is that upto 22" the actual size is usually about half inch lesser than quoted. 23" and above this is not so. 22" is actually 21.5" while 23" is actually 23".

You have not given a budget for the monitor.

Go for the 24" vs the 20" monitor if your budget allows it. The extra 4" makes a difference especially when watching movies as also not having to scroll sideways as much browsing or reading documents. A 32" or larger TV might be uncomfortable for up close usage such as browsing the internet etc.

I've noticed USB ports no longer being made available on several of the lower priced monitors(mfr. cost saving I guess) so options there probably are limited if on a budget.

If you want to play movies on a monitor without powering on the PC one of those Android on USB devices is an option to consider but your monitor would then need to have a HDMI port. If the monitor does not have HDMI, DVI to HDMI adapters are an option, though posts on the internet indicate that it could be problematic.

Yes. You can use your HDLED TV as your monitor comfortably.... I have been using my Sony 46 Inch LCD TV as my monitor connected to PC thru HDMI for more than 8 months with wireless keyboard & mouse from a distance of 10 feet...

I have had many questions like you before i could use my TV as monitor.... But believe me, it is a superb experience....

Browsing on your big screen, playing games, watching youtube videos is just fantastic....

Am no expert in telling if the details are sharp, dull (or) just apt for the eye.... I have been pretty comfortable in doing it so far & love the big screen as PC monitor :ohyeah:
