Confusion 32" Sony vs Samsung

I have gone through many threads discussing the brands in the last few days in this forum. What I am clear about is:

1. I need a 32" LED TV
2. Refresh Rate at least 100 Hz
3. Good PQ
4. I can do away with additional features like 3D, internet, skype etc.
5. Mainly I would be watching TataSky channels and DVD movies and my digital pictures.

I had planned to buy Sony 32EX710. But it is out of stock and after about 10 days the dealer told me that Sony is phasing out 710 series so no more supply is delivered in that series. He has the 32EX600. EX520 will be introduced in 32" as well. But on checking I found that it has a refresh rate of 60Hz only. So that is out. So I started having a look at Samsung. I found these 2 models - LA32C650 and LA32C630K1R(I don't understand the prefixes and suffixes like LA UA or K1R etc please explain). And then it started to boggle my mind. Should I get Sony 32EX600? Or Samsung? If Samsung, which is the best in 32" range?

I need your suggestions as to what would be best. Budget - can go up to 60K.

Best bet would be to wait until March end when Sony will be most probably delivering the EX720.The C630/650 are both LCD models if i remember correctly, but great performers in the end.

Thanks Imrahn. I talked to the Sony Support Center today early morning and he said that EX710 consignment was delayed from Singapore and should be available by first week of March.

But all my friends keep on telling me to go for Samsung since that is better in LED's than Sony. How true is that?

Ex710 is EOL production model.It will be replaced by the EX720 which has 3d capabilty and has motionflow 200.It also has a new image processing and more features with regard to media support via USB and also has internet features like you tube etc and may have a opera browser app.

I had read about the EX720 series but I don't think it'll be introduced in India that soon. May be by this year-end. I don't wish to wait that long. But I'll wait till March and see. Meanwhile I welcome the views of the members to help me make a good choice.

The samsung customer service is bad . I have to say go with SONY here.

I remember reading that the EX710 series has Edge Lit LED issues (blacks are not really black) in whathifi magazine. Considering your budget, I would suggest Panasonic 32D25 model. This panny has loads of additional features too.

If you are not interested in any of the extra, probably Sony EX503 (which is lit by CCFL not LED) is a very good option. I think this has 100Hz motion flow too.

AFAIK, LED market is still maturing,there is lot more to come in the next year or so. There is still no real LED at a reasonable price. Don't get carried away by marketing gimmicks of LED.

You would go to Samsung only if you need all those extra features you don't want!

I guess the EX520 is a good bet for you now, which should cost you less than 45K for a 32". It has features superior to the EX600 too.

Sure will let you know if I get any news. Meanwhile I'm just waiting to see what new models will be introduced by April. I am in no hurry for now. Might even consider Panasonic 32D25 as suggested by genopv.

Yes picture quality of Panasonic 32D25 is also great. but only cons.is I heard somewhere that it is not supported for Dolby digital output.

Yes, that puts me off a bit. It doesn't support 5.1 surround sound.

It is utter nonsense that SONY is GOD!!

We need every bit as much service for Sony as for others, perhaps even more (if you consider the percentage of market). In fact they are RUDE as well as incompetent in a lot of cases. They are always in a hurry, and will even delay their commitments, without so much as a sorry or consideration to your time.

Sony will never give you a WRITTEN reply to a query sent to them against their products. They MAY (yes!! MAY, not always) call you for completing their records, and even then only do a pacifying job (What we call LEEPA POTI).

This is my personal experience, not once but 2-3 times already. They are as (or even more) unethical as the worst of the companies. They only work when really threatened.

I have read in this forum (I think), that LG refunded the full amount to a person due to some perceived quality issue that he was facing. This does show LG to be more customer oriented than others.

Some of my problems with Sony have already been elaborated here. I have had other problems too, which have really not helped me think really highly of Sony.

We are all humans. We all make mistakes. But accept it and quit bullshitting (sorry but that is the truth)! If a request from the customer is not beyond their reach, and does not really involve too much effort and definitely does not involve any monetary cost, it should be fulfilled.

This I have learned after having bought a really expensive TV the 46HX800 at Rs.1.2 Lakh or so.

If they can do this to a customer of their premium products, GOD HELP OTHERS!!

simply go for samsung c 530 .it is for rs 32000 With watch and other gifts .if u bargain it may come 4 rs 31000 also. In delhi it is available for rs 29990 to rs 31500 at various store. We have purchased 4 my friend from girias bangalore for rs 32000 only with gifts worth rs 800 and they r giving airtel dish tv plus interest free 8 emi.
Go 4 samsung i am using 32" b530lr since one and half year.
Customer care is superb .they have replaced my faulty hdmi connection after 9 months within 3 days of complaint.

I have got "Sabra ka meetha fal". Today i have purchased SONY 32 EX720 for Rs 54990/- in Pune. Not yet unpacked. Major features are Monitflow 200, 3D (which i was not looking for) & DIVx support through USB.
