Recently got the mentioned plasma but i am confused regarding the setting.

I will play Blurays primarily and some occasional BD Rips.

I use sony Blu ray player s380. Confusion is in player setting... there is an option to output video either in 720p or 1080 p/i along with other option auto & original resolution. Since the plasma is 1024x768 panel, what option should I choose in player setting?

Further, I am confused about what black optimizer setting should I choose. The TV has no opposite light source but a window is there at its back. I want to know any proper calibration setting available for post-100hrs.

I found the motion is not smooth being a plasma...I have already selected the 'cinema smooth' in the option. Can anyone or a plasma owner guide me in right direction.

Congo for ur buy......!!!

Set the video output for ur BD player to auto, let the Plasma do the image scaling.

My settings for the same plasma are as follows :

Below are my settings -

Picture mode : movie
Cell light : 7 (Cable) 8 (HD & 3D movies)
Contrast : 55 (Cable) 60 (HD & 3D movies)
Brightness : 50
Color : 50
Sharpness : 5
Tint : g50/r50
Picture size : 16:9 (Cable, HD with 16:9 resolution & 3D movies) Mode 2 (HD movies with black bar)

Picture options
Color tone : warm 2
Black optimiser : dark room

Advance settings
Color space : auto
Gamma : 0
Flesh tone : 0
Everything else off

White balance - No change

Tools
Burn-in protection : on
Pixel Shift : 4

I am having no problem with the motion and I have set the cinema smooth option off as I personally don't like the soap opera effect.
If u r asking for soap opera effect then I guess that setting the cinema smooth option on will do...Any other forum member can put some light onto it....

Thanks a ton, somantak_g for the settings and guidance.

I found out that the tv wasnot accepting 1080/24p setting from bluray player. After I turning a setting in player called 'Film Conversion' to 'Video', the tv is displaying 1080/24p signal. Have to rush office so have not checked the motion thing. Will update.

do you have the same plasma? i cant find Tools> Burnin & Pixel Shift option

Does it play all the media formats via usb ??
especially youtube 3d/mp4 1080p/3d brrips

I have not checked with 3D rips/youtube mp4s.
But a very weird video collection of mine stored in hard disk containing flv/mp4s/mkv/avi runs smoothly.

Thank You. Got it. The settings you have suggested are for first 100 hours ? or is it applicable for all time ?

I checked the motion from Blurays. Didn't feel judder this time. However sometime if you focus on some character's movement across frame i feel the motion is not smooth. I watch from a distance of 4/5ft. Otherwise colour contast brightness all top notch.

Welcome dude...!!! The settings are for first 200 hrs. After that u can increase the values if u want.
Regarding the motion what I guess that, the movies are recorded in cameras which does not have the soap opera motion effect. Actually this is the natural motion for movies i guess. for 42" ideal viewing distance shud be 6'-7'. Try that.
