The things i would like to know from my fellow members is this what is the model of the telly i am talking about?
what is the maximum resolution supported by it?
and also how do crts match up in game performance unline the lcd's?
and also if anyone has tried this setup and failed due to some reasons please elaborate on that ?
Any help would be greately appreciated:clapping:

HD movies on CRT looks pretty good and acceptable. I have connected it to Laptop and watched many HD content without feeling real need of any upgardes to display apart from screen size. Also the depathness and contrast on CRT is pretty awesome. So I can easily sacrifice the 1080p lines for a 21" size. I am not sure about resolution it supports but my laptop is on 1024 V lines.

Not sure about the converter you are talking, In your case S-video needs to split 3 RGB which I dont think is pretty simple and S -video is little below than componenet for picture quality. If it didnt work, get a simple s-video to RCA composite jack for ~200 bucks and connect it.

how about games man and how do they stack up any special settings that i need to configure???BTW thanks for answering man:clapping:

I config TV 1st & then increased resolution of PC monitor.nvidia can set seperate resolution for either of monitor at same time.
In short I can play games on my PC monitor & can watch movie on CRT at the same time.

what i Meant was that as tvs have a lower resolution can i play games well in this so that i can use all the graphical quality to play games and how good do they look in games?
I want to use the crt as my primary gaming screen as my graphics card can play lower resolutions well and if it plays well in a 29 inch crt i dont have to update my pc in a long time:yahoo:

Game with low res CRT is not good idea. Most of newer games will not support low resolution & only old one can be.So if you update monitor(seperate)for games, your GC will do the rest.

S-Video_7-pin_quasi-DIN_connector.JPG

This is a view of the ? S-video output on my Compaq Presario M2000 laptop(http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/hardware/notebooks/0,39001743,39088002p,00.htm).I want to connect this to a 25" CRT with both composite and component inputs.
Currently,I burn 720p video files to DVD using convertxtodvd 4 and play them through a sony DVDp connected to the tv via component-in.
1. What cable do I ask for to connect the laptop to the TV ?
2. Will the video quality via this connection be better than/equal to my current setup? Video transcoding on my laptop using convertxtodvd is painfully slow!
3. Do i need some sort of connector box between the laptop and the TV ?

Gaming on a CRT TV, no matter how advanced the game graphics, will be similar to PS2. So if you were satisfied with PS2 graphics then you will be happy with CRT gaming.

I got the 7 pin S-video to composite (3 RCA) cable and connected the same to my laptop/CRT.
However , no video or audio output is seen on the TV!
I used VLC media player and tried various resolutions of my laptop monitor.

Any ideas please ?
I cannot seem to find resolution settings on the TV.

Did you switch on S video/HDTV option?
You have to set as multi/Dual monitor from graphic driver, set HDTV as 720p & it should work.
