My relative has a huge collection of VHS and is wanting to convert this to DVD/BD. Pls identify known sources who can do a good job in converting these in Kolkata area only. :signthankspin:
In general : If they are rare titles or recording then it make sense to me to convert them as DVD or Blu-Ray. As you know the source is already low-resolution then there is no use to convert them as Blu-Ray (I can understand about DVD).

Thank you prepress. These video cassettes are my uncle's treasured collection and that's why he has still held on it. Coversion and upscaling cannot be done?
Tx Shuv. He really doesn't have the time, a photo/wedding video photography store was my suggestion but which one and where in the city? If it was Bangalore I know places where we can get this done professionally, but his collection is in Cal so i'm looking for very specific information on who and where?
I had seen VHS-DVD Conversion boards at a few places. But I cannot recollect the exact shops.
One was in the vicinity of Mithai, Beckbagan. Another one was somewhere opposite to the Audi showroom.
Please understand that these sightings are not recent. At least 7-8 years old.
It is not very difficult to do it yourself if the video cassettes are in good condition (no fungus) and if there is no editing to be done. You will need a suitable card and software. And of course, a VCR! I have done some conversions (with editing) of my old home videos using Pinnacle card and software.
I have converted a lot of home video (Hi-8) into DVDs. Also converted my marriage VHS into DVD. I have three Hollywood dazzle DV bridge and a VCR. But let me tell you that in these days of high resolution videos, VHS converted to DVD looks crap. Such conversion is recommended only if the content is personal, rare, and important.
