2 Q's:

1. Below the 2 stacked resistors, that cap - is that used for bypass?

2. Below the crossover assembly, there seems to be a switch. If it is a switch - what is it for?

Hello !

The flat capacitor, i'm not sure, but certainly would be a part of the filter either in the low or the high pass. Being a Disk/ceramic cap, i'm guessing it might be of the high pass filter.

Yes, its a three ways switch. Controls the HF attenuation. providing fixed attenuation of course.

It is labelled PS1 on the board. :-) It has to be a bypass in the high pass. But strangely, it's not positioned "next to" another cap like I expected it to.

My guess it that is toggles between those 3 resistors that are stacked like towers. Correct?

Yes, i think so too. The focal guys made the PCB that way, it has funny tracks if you look under.

Yes, it toggles between the three resistors, changing the effective resistance.

Pranav, what would be the cost of a 3 way replica similar to 836 with original drivers?

Its difficult to give you a figure without knowing what all work is required. Drivers are one thing, how about the crossover?
The cost of hardware such as the terminals, the finish and allied things vary quite a bit.
