Customs duty for amplifiers @ 14% - Please verify

Hi

Just came across this link where it states that since Feb, 2014, the customs duty on amplifiers is just about 14% in total as per the customs duty calculator on the same page...

85423300 - Electronic integrated circuits: Amplifiers India Import Duty, Custom Duty, tariff and tax.

Can somebody verify if this is true????

Amplifiers & Pre-amps has an import duty rate of 10% and Landing Charges rate is 1%, Countervailing Duty rate is 12%, CESS rate is 3%, Additional Countervailing Duty rate is 4%.

Just ran the calculator for 85423300. Works out to 10.4%.

Note that this category likely refers to amp chips, and that these are rates for official import - not passenger baggage.

The website you refer to is oft-frequented and well-regarded in the mercantile community, so it's unlikely that their stated information is incorrect.

Hmm, if that's so, why is it so overpriced from vendors?

Guessing overhead and bulk transpost costs?
