I wanted to buy a 46 inch TV and came across one model Philips 46 PHL8777.
A 3D full HD TV with inbuilt DDB TUNER with price tag of 79000 with free 2 years full HD Channels subscription.
My questions are
1.how is philips LED TV quality bearing in mind I am not a videophile or audiophile but just ordinary Tv viewer who watch serials and Movies on TV
2. How different is the DDB tech from set top box ?
Thanks

Last time I saw offer on Philips TV it didn't have WiFi or Ethernet in it.
If you ever wanted that feature then stay away.

Also previously I had checked a 46inch 3D TV in eZone Bangalore and didn't like the PQ as such of the TV. Suggest going to shop checking different content on TV and another TV and decide.

Philips Higher end TVs picture quality is as good as other brands like sony, samsung etc. I had checked out 42PFL7977. Dint check the 3D though.
Smart features are not there.

Its value for money with DDB offer of 2 yrs free subscription.
Only thing that is of worry is whether Philips is serious about its TV business in India. they have not brought in any new models.

Can anybody confirm whether this model (42PFL7977 or Of OP) HDMI is version 1.4 or not. because ARC is introduced in version 1.4

DDB stands for Digital Direct Broadcast which is a new technology co-developed by Philips and Videocon that bypasses the need for a separate set-top box. However you can always connect a different set-up box (w/wo recording) via HDMI.
Philips Series 8 is really awesome featuring 480Hz (PMR) frame rate with a panel refresh rate of 100Hz (see link What is the Refresh Rate?) and a passive 3D.

This Philips TV can be compared with the best of any brand in real PQ. Afterall PHILIPS is a market leader in consumer durable in Europe.
