Dedicated HT setup

Which sub would you suggest?

I am apprehensive whether the AVRs (vsx934 7.2 @80w 2ch or lx304 9.2@100w 2ch) are sufficient? I can't find any reasonably priced avr with pre-outs. These seem to have vanished, though practically negligible cost attached to give preouts.

May have to open box and connect directly after warranty. LOL.:p;)

Also can I use Amazon basics 16/14AWG speaker wires? Very decently priced
Below link will calculate how many watts you need.

Now if you could guide me which would work better with AVR Pioneer VSX 934? 7.1 setup.
Amplification

I was leaning towards 806F and VSX934, but 91db sensitivity (vs 89db) makes me think of 606F SE., as less watt required for same loudness, and anyway putting in a separate subwoofer. Am I correct?

Should I go for Pioneer LX-304 9.2 setup., For 7.2 amplification and maybe 2 more later??
AMPLIFICATION
› Channels: 9
› Amplification Type: Direct Energy
› 185 W/ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, THD 10 %, 1ch Driven)
› 170 W/ch (8 ohms,1 kHz, THD 1 %, 1ch Driven IEC)

Finally set up 5.1.2 (TAGA 806F, 806S, C100, 212SE, 500R V.4), with Pioneer LX304, and Epson 650.

The sound seems decent. Just breaking in.

Now what should I opt for 2 rear or 2 more ceiling atmos speakers?

How, or what sounds will the rear speakers carry in a 7.1.2 setup? And what sounds by the extra 2 atmos in 5.2.4 setup?

My sitting (ears) will be about 3', 9.5', and 16' from the rear wall. I think the main 2 will be the front 2 rows, rear being used lesser.

As the name indicates, sounds that ought to feel like they originate from behind you i.e. rear.

And what sounds by the extra 2 atmos in 5.2.4 setup?

Overhead sounds with panning from the front to rear pairs.

My understanding is that we have a diminished sense of hearing wrt sounds behind us, so the overhead panning is more likely to have a bigger impact than an additional pair of rear surrounds instead.

Ok good.. It is 10K less than what you thought it to be.. There are also other 9.2 AVR capable of 11.2 pre-outs for that budget range.. Onkyo, Denon, Marantz.. You may choose one of these models which suits in your budget.. This way you will not need to upgrade AVR, anytime sooner..

Also look for on year model, not really a big deal.. You may get one from any of the above brands for even better price..

I disagree, Pioneer VSX- LX 304 is the only 9.2 ch AVR available which is up-to 60K after negotiations. Rest Denon, Onkyo and Marantz 9.2 starts at 85K and up.

Budget about 24 to 27000 for sub. Taga 210 or 212 or 212SE seem the best bet for my room in this range. I have also been suggested Elac S10.2@ 26,000. I feel it might be underpowered and not low enough compared to the Tagas. Please do advise. Also with the 8"woofers and low frequency in Taga806F, do I need subwoofers now or should I add them a bit later if felt.

Otherwise, I feel Taga 806F, C40PR, 806S, TCW 500 R V.4 seems decent at the price for 7.2 atmos. With Pioneer 934 AVR (suggest) and Epson TW650 or Benq W1050 projector.(suggest as not much difference in prices)

Thanks

You should at least go for the Pioneer VSX-LX 303 or LX304. LX is the elite series of Pioneer and its in the same price range as 934 AVR.

I am also debating to buy Denon AVR- X2600H and Pioneer VSX-LX 304, the major difference is Denon is 7.2, 95 watts per 2.0 chl and while Pioneer is 9.2, 100 watts per 2.0 chl. They sell for almost the same cost.

It is recommended to have a receiver with THD up to 0.08% anything above that is a no go.

Go with Pioneer 304 coz it has 4 ch atmos and also Imax enhanced feature which the Denon lacks. Pioneer uses D class amp as well.

I have in fact installed the Pioneer LX304. All TAGA 806F, 806S, C100, 212SE, 500R V.4 in 5.1.2. Epson 650 projector. Now looking to add 2 more speakers, most probably 2 more atmos.

Can the 806S work as atmos, if installed on ceiling.
