I recently purchased the Dell Venue 7 tablet. I installed VLC media player and the Ultra Media player. The VLC player was a beta version. I am unable to get either of them to play audio/video files. Can anyone suggest compatible media player for tablet. TIA.

VLC should've played the media files. Anyways, try the MXPlayer and KMPlayer.

Thanks @machinfinity & @anubisX. I tried MX player and KMPlayer. They also didn't work. KMPlayer seems to be built on VLC player. The problem seems to be a hardware one. The Dell Venue is based on the Intel Z2560 chip unlike other tablets which are based on RM chips.

I am still looking for any suggestions

might be a problem with software support for Intel chips. I suggest you install the Intel x86 codec for MX player from the playstore and then try playing the video files.

I would like to thank all of you for the suggestions. The problem was with the file I downloaded into the Dell 7. I copied the downloaded file to my laptop and it wouldn't play on my laptop either. Then I transferred couple of files that I downloaded into the laptop into the Dell 7. They played without a problem with VLC. Apparently the problem was with the first file that I downloaded.

Thanks for all of you for the suggestions. It gave me an opportunity to try the other media players. Most of them seem to be based on the VLC player only.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
