For the first time I demoed a Sharp product as was looking for a second TV.

Man this basic Sharp LCD was matching EX series on my HD demo videos. Not just that it was better on HD channels as well.

What was more surprising was the fact that Akai LED was beating all other brands like Pana, Sony, Samsung, Thosiba hands down. All were on Dynamic Mode.

Surprise Surprise....I am buying Sharp tough I had plans to get a Sony EX series...

Sharp is just 22K with 3 Years Warranty

I agree.
The EX and NX ranges of sony are not worth the money but the hx series is.

same here man .
i went for demo and liked videocon more than sony , sammy , panny .

btw is it available in bigger size and at what price .

I disagree...I'm not sure whether sony has a dynamic picture mode..it got vivid/standard/custom mode...I was also offered 51k with 3 yr warranty on a sharp 40 inch but went with sony at 64k with 3 yr warranty..felt that there are not so much good service center for sharp..and sharp doesn't sell much in India..there is a chance of getting a demo piece..
Pic quality wise I like sony's bright, vivid color...sony EX models are one of the best leds in that price bracket..there are many members with EX models here..not sure all are complaining about pic quality.
I compared each pic characteristics color, blacks, processing, noise handling,clarity...didn't feel to go with sharp though sales guy was pressing to go with sharp that time.

Here is shocker..I was surprised as well..Sony was on Vivid mode while Sharp was on Standard mode. I asked him to play both on Vivid. I would sharp color production was too good and Samsung (ES 4/5 series,) were no match for it, for sure.

Not only I watched Colors HD & ESPN HD, i played by own MKV, AVI files as well.

Also, note that Blacks were categorically superior to Sony ( HX is a different league though).

This may well be due the fact that Sharp need not outsource panels and in fact creates one for itself.

Anyways, they have created the best TV's consistently across globe.

Sharp in fact sells at a premium in US while LG/Samsung's are always on big discount, which sell big time in India.

About ASS, LG/Samsung charge us a premium for nothing. 10K-20K extra we pay is towards ASS only.

PS: My point was for people with tight budgets, who strech and buy Sony/Samsung assuming they give better pic quality. Fact of the matter is that aint the case in basic or mid tier models..

HX for sure is a different league and then Sharp Elite is one heck of a product itself, both out of equation for people seeking 32' TV in less than 30-40K.

I am buying in Morning and let you know. I guess 40' was easily available. Should be +10-15 K more.

What made you think sharp dosnt have good service?

You are in dark, with you statement, sharp don't sell much in India and can get a demo piece.

Sharp's pq is any day better than Sony and Panasonic.

Sharp makes one of the best panels in the world.

Simple ask for yourself if Sony was so good, why are sales coming down? They have lost chunk of market share.

My vote for sharp.

Please check sharp market share before commenting...

I posted what I saw...it is upto individuals to take suggestion...don't want to force anything here...everybody is free to purchase product of their liking..there are a lot of members here with sony EX models..never heard them complaining about sony's pic quality...
Sony outsourced panel from other companies..but it's not like they just take the panels and fit in tv...sony does its own customization on panels.

From what i saw in Singapore i preferred sharp and Philips LCD's over Sony and samsung any day.

No wonder most flagship models use sharp's panel and their current elite is the best LCD on the market. No, Sony does not customize panels they only add their pic processing and back lighting.

Also i kind of agree with your observation on akai, i happen to see the 32" akai LCD playing some HD video of the Himalayas in big bazaar next to Sony, samsung and Philips LCD,on that store default setting the pic looked better on Akai and more natural and less processed showing more details compared to the other three.

I too feel, SHARP has the best colour reproduction.I got a SHARP demo only after, I bought my LG. The reason could be because it uses RGBY(QUATTRON), which is patented.Others use RGB only.

SHARP is a huge brand across the globe.Only that it does not have proper advertising policy in INDIA.

The quatron tech looks colourful however the addition of yellow is not beneficial for a natural rgb color gamut. One can easy get references by googling. An analogy will be comparing the Samsung's over-saturated displays in their phones and tabs to the apple retina display.

The Sony HX 9xx and HX 8xx are great led backlit lcds at present however I felt their sd quality was not great. HD material was great with good black levels and screen uniformity besides stunning design.

The Panasonic plasmas still take the top tier vt, gt or st are all great. Banding issues are over exaggerated although mild image retention is their if one is not careful. Sd looks good while hd is awesome especially movies with a darker colour palette. Can see so much more in the dark areas as compared to my led backlit Sammy.

Exotic tvs are ought to be great e.g. Pioneer Kuro, sharp elite pro, toshiba glass free 3d or the newer 4k televisions but these need not be compared to the mainstream models.

I don't doubt of sharp producing some great panels however most of panels in the world are supplied by Samsung and lg. Most mid and low tier TV are neck to neck and there is no relative dominance like at the upper end. One may buy what one likes however the showroom is the worst possible place to compare because of improper lighting.

I personally believe that the dynamic and vivid modes are the worst modes of viewing any tv. These are grossly unnatural, overly bright with super saturated colors. Try expert calibrated user settings or THX certified settings if available. If not movie or natural/standard modes are the best.

^ very wisely said....showroom conditions are worst to copmpare..
my choice all 45-55...color temp-warm,backlit 40-60 percent...

but unfortunatley some find these extra bright stuffs very eye catchy and select on the basis of this thinking thats most brilliant model..

I don't know about Singapore market. But yes SHARP and Philips are probably the best researchers in the AV/TV field.

SHARP has always been known for inventing 'one of a kind products' or technologies like
  • The 'ever sharp' mechanical pencil (invented around a century ago),
  • World's first LCD TV(in 1988),
  • Quattron (RGBY),
  • The'Moth Eye Filter' (developed in collaboration with SHARP) that reduces reflection on LED TV screens
  • 'Integrated Cognitive Creation' that will be used on the brand's forthcoming 4K(UHD) TVs
    etc.

PHILIPS has changed the way we live by inventing so many cool things such as ...
  • The Audio Cassette
  • The world's first optical disc (CD)
  • The DVD
  • Pixel Plus (probably the first step into the world of High Definition)
  • Pro LED
  • wOOx passive radiator speaker technology used in PHILIPS Hi-Fi systems
  • Ambilight TVs
etc.

Panasonic is a respectable brand too and invested heavily on Plasma panel (and TV) manufacturing since Plasma TVs consistently outperform LCD/LED TVs in video-performance. SONY just thinks it is still the 'King' as in 'Trinitron ' days by selling its products always at higher price than its equally performing good market peers viz LG, Panasonic and Samsung :ohyeah:. The image processing on SONY TVs seemed very much unimpressive to me : for the past decade, I have never been impressed by the artificially or rather unnaturally good looking pictures !

PHILIPS seems to have maintained a decent TV market share. But SHARP has encountered record high losses that there were rumors that it was on its 'last legs'. Hope the company overcomes these hurdles and continues to churn out nice products with great technology

To be honest I am surprised to see someone favouring SHARP over other brands. Sometime back i started a thread about SHARP laureling it as a good brand. But all i got was criticism as most others favoured only SONY.

I too saw this model in a store. Not only was it looging good but also, it was also a superb performer outclassing every other LCD like Samsung, SONY etc that were next to it. The color reproduction was fantastic ... the image was overall very pleasant and real unlike other TVs that have boosted contrasts and whites. Is it true this model plays MP3, JPG, PNG & upto 720p AVI & MKV files from USB?

Can anyone suggest any online store where this model is available for less than or equal to 20K INR ?? Also, how is this model compared to Sharp's LED model LC-32LE341M ?

I took a demo of Sharp 60 incher a few months back and it was a great experience. Even in the showroom conditions, I was impressed with the great display characteristics of this TV. Also had a look to the 3D capabilities & it was a brilliant experience. Connected to a sharp blue ray player, the 3D effects were nothing short of being called splendid.

Sharp definitely makes one of the best displays in the world since long. I won't be amazed at all if more & more people go for Sharp TVs. Its really understandable if one takes an unbiased demo.

I made a thread on it too:

Sharp has a reputation for technical prowess in this area.

Regards.

I am also in a dilemma. Completing my 1.5 years of first Job, I want to buy my own first HDTV. When I researched across the web I found most people giving some negative feedback for brands like SHARP, Toshiba, Panasonic and always suggested Sony, Samsung and LG.

I keep on asking myself if the former's HDTV aren't that good, how are they surviving? I find it crazy that some people blindly beliving in Sony without even knowing that Sony has been buying HDTV panels from SHARP in recent times.

I think I am gonna consider buying SHARP, especially because I am on a tight budget of 30-32k max.
