Denon 1713 Receiver from USA

Hi,

This is my first query to the Forum.....Am newbie to Home Theater Set up just started research.

I have few questions listed below

1. My Tentative combination set up would be

Denon 1713 receiver, Polk TL350 5 Speakers(Planning to buy in USA not available in India), Polk Sub Woofer(Model yet to be decided and planning to buy in India)

Any thoughts or suggestions on the combination above.

2. My Second question would be is any one bought the Denon Receiver from US(Am currently planning to due to huge price variation) any problems or any suggestions please welcome.

And lastly any other combinations do you suggest....

well for me that huge price variation is for 3 years India warranty. I have used many imported gadgets, and in some cases unfortunately ended up paying more as I did not have India warranty, in some cases, service center did not accept for repair as they are imported. Not sure what is the case with these. Now I prefer not to do this anymore. Last weekend bought same Denon 1713 from ProFx itself. Hope it will do good ...

You will also need a 240 V AC to 120 V AC step down transformer for the receiver.

by the way for how much did you buy Denon 1713.

And also would it be any issue if i bring Polk TL350 from US and buy rest of the models in India? any ideas.

From profx Bangalore you get it for around 32000Rs, if you buy speakers from them they give some more discount to it and comes to around 31000. From this forum I saw some people bought it as low as 29000, though price is different for different city. If it is your budget which is why you are importing an AVR you can think of other options. If front usb and networking not mandatory for you, go for Denon 1513. Another AVR to check is Onkyo NR414. Can check Yamaha V373. Yamaha V473 in same range of 1713

if speaker rating matches with 1713, I guess there should not be any problem importing it. but again, same warranty thing goes for speaker too. I guess you get many options in India itself to match your requirement. Moreover you can be sure which suites you after you take audition. If you import it from US without audition, it may be good or may be you have to console your mind

There are many FM who are using 5.1 packages bought from India, with 1713.
Search the forum you get some options.

Denon AVR and Polks go well together. I too would not advise buying from USA. You will need to buy a large chunky step-down transformer that will add to clutter. Please factor-in the cost of no warranty, added transformer, transportation cost (or sacrificing on one checked-in bag), possible customs duty, etc.

You can buy speakers (Polk TL350) + cables (monoprice) from USA and source the AVR and SUB locally.

As per the specs it can play FLAC through USB, but as I don't have any FLAC yet, could not try it out.

Probably as Kittu suggested i can go and buy TL350 here in USA along with cable. go for sub and Denon in India.

by the way one more question i have on Sub

need your feedback on Polk Sub Woofer - PSW111. with the combination i submitted.

@ dipdawiz - i did not do enough research but reason for going 1713(though not finalized) it has advanced option compare to 1513 such as Airplay and the options which you specified.

once again my tentative combination am thinking to set up is

SAMSUNG SMART TV + Polk TL350 + PSW111 + Denon 1713 .

Also i have Polk RM6750 in my mind with the above combination...

basically am interested in wall mount models...

what are your inputs. any other combinations also please welcome.

You can also consider energy RC micro 5.0 series for 138$ amazon. Sub I would suggest anything from PSW505 series.

by the way one more question i have on Sub

need your feedback on Polk Sub Woofer - PSW111. with the combination i submitted.

No idea about PSW111, I went for PSW110. 111 is a compact sub, and has 300watt from 8" cone where as PSW110 has 10" cone but 200watt and can go as low as 32hz. So I guess, PSW111 would be better for music where as PSW110 suite better for HT.

In my case, for a room size of 14x12, PSW110 volume is set in half mark and sub output in 1713 is -10db, and it is balanced with Tsi400 (well ofcourse that is as per my liking).

Regarding 5.0/5.1 wall mountable speakers, I dont have much idea, as I did not hear anything apart from Denon 1312xp and Boston Aucustics XS5.1. BA has better sound I guess, but that is all, no idea how fair they will do with others mentioned through out this thead.
