Was looking to purchase a blu ray player that can be compatible with my old S301 model (for the speakers/woofer)

Anyone has experience with the blu ray model - any other model should be considered. Also any views on the compatibility ?

With regard to multi-region - with many blu ray disks being region free, is it a must ?
