Dear Friends,

Since about one month i have going through various threads in this forum, asking doubts from FMs. I am very much thanksful to all the FMs who have replied to my doubts.

As a result of above discussions i decided to go ahead with following setup:

Panasonic DMP BDT 220(source)+ Topping TP2020(Amp)+CA S30(speakers)

Infact i created paypal account and amazon account to order above.

Just before ordering I happened to go to Profx showroom in Barten Centre, Bangalore.
There was an offer on Denon PMA-510AE(discontinued) + KEF C3 BS for inr 29900/--(total mrp inr 38200/--). It translates to 21.7% discount. I think i can spend this much for the amp and speakers. I request you to help me with following:

1) Do you think the above combo is good, i tried to search on the above amp and speakers, but it didnt yield much results.
2) I also have the option of buying the Amp for inr 16300 after 15% discount and add speakers separatly. Do you think i should buy the Amp and add speakers like Polk Audio TSi100(10.8k), Polk AudioTSi200(14.6k) or Pioneer SP-BS41LR(12k as mentioned by forum members) .
3) Also please let me know if the above mentioned speakers will go well with Denon PMA 510AE or not. Also please recommend any other bookshelf speakers for 12 to 15k that can go well with Denon PMA 510AE.

Following are the links for specifications:
TSi200 - Bookshelf | Polk Audio

For speakers, I can recommend Wharfedale 9.1 and they are excellent for the price.

Regarding the amplifier, Denon 510 was my first amplifier some 8 years back I guess. it was good but given today there might be other possibilities. I heard 720 recently and it was very nice. May be you can also consider the entry level amplifier from marantz.
Honestly the entry level integrated amplifiers sound similar to mid range AV Receivers, IMO.
Again, IMO Rega Brio-R could be the starting point to venture into Stereo Amps and below that I do not think AVRs do not compare that bad. My 2 Cents

This review is no benchmark and I have not heard KEF but worth reading
KEF C3 review from the experts at whathifi.com

Speakers are the most important, IMO. And Wharfedale 9.1s, I owned them for few years and they easily beat many speakers 2-3 times their price range (B&W 601, CM1, 686 are all less in SQ when compared with Wharfedale, again this is my opinion and I owned all these speakers!)

IMHO,

Go with Point 2,If you have option of getting Amp for 16-17 k,then the remain 13-14k would be good for Entry level speakers, that gives much value for Money.

Checkout Sonodyne out with some Offers, and check how the amp sounds with Sonus, audition and buy it

All the best

Hi SatMumbai,

thanks a lot for your response.

I went through that review, may be i should consider other speakers along with this amp. or wait for 3 months or so to buy an amp like marantz 6004/ denon pma 720 ae or nad 326bee. another alternative is to look for used amp, but somehow i am not that comfortable buying used amp.

What do you say?

Regards, Amit

a norge 1000 + wharfedale 9.1 or wharfe 10.1 would fit nicely too..

mpw

Thanks MPW

i thought of Norge and Sonodyne, infact i went for audition of Sonodyne, i liked Denon more than sonodyne, not sure why.

i will surely check on wharfdale speakers.

Regards, Amit

Hi Ramesh,

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

What kind of music do you listen to? I own the Denon PMA 510 AE, listen to a lot of metal and rock, paired with my Avianos I have never been happier. The amp gives the right amount of flavor to the music.. At the time of buying I had auditioned the Denon alongside Marantz and Cambridge Audio and the other amps sounded too melo for me. But for other genres I seriously have no clue on how the amp performs
Cheers
