Hi

Have hooked up my Denon X1200 with RTI A7 towers + DSW PRO660 sub + Centre + surround - all polks... Can someone help on the actual step by step set-up of the amp

How do I connect the Sub - do I use the LFE? How to make the other adjustments on the sub? Presently have connected it with an RCA from the preamp out of the amp - do I use only the "L" for the LFE ?

Tried out the set-up but am not getting the feel of the sound which I was expecting. I am assuming that I am adjusting the receiver properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi

For the subwoofer, you need to use the LFE out or Sub Out ports...refer to the operating manual and you will be able to do optimal connections...

For the subwoofer, you need to use a proper subwoofer cable (shielded)...order one from amazon.....bluerigger shielded subwoofer cable....

If you follow the instructions on manual...you can run the automatic setup which will calibrate all settings based on what speakers are attached, type and EQ

Setup with Audessey. Us the Mic and calibrate it placing the mic in all positions. Check individual sound levels. Use an SPL app on your phone (not 100% foolproof) to get 90-100 dB. Check how hard the AMP is getting pushed. What volume is the amp at when 90 dB is reached?

Set F/L Speakers to Large. Set Individual Crossover for speakers. There are tons of guides on the internet for Tower speakers. This is critical.

X1200 has an LFE out. Connect to Subwoofer L. You can buy a RCA Twin Jack to connect both R&L on the subwoofer.

If you could use your best judgement and try let us know what seems to be missing, Low End or Mids/Vocals/ Treble? it would be a start.

I have X1200. I did not see L/R connections for Subwoofer. There are two pre-outs - RCA sockets. Can you please clarify @quixand

You should have 2 LFE Inputs (L/R) on the back of your Sub. I'm looking at DSW PRO 660. Assumming I've got the model right.

Connect LFE Out from Amp to LFE IN (R) on Subwoofer with an RCA cable. Your model uses LFE/R not LFE/L so follow the manual.

I use this to connect LFE out from Amp to L & R LFE IN on my Wharfedale Sub.

Hi

The X1200 is a 7.2 and hence you have 2 pre outs for two subs....

Most subs have L+R inputs....typically the L section is used for LEF input from the AVR......it would be mentioned on the instructions manual too and also specially coloured other than Red and White.

One subwoofer single RCA cable is more than enough.....I too used the x1200w briefly for a week and was not happy with its CLAIMED performance.....overrated I think....

I went back and got a NR1606 which is much much better and delivers better punch and output.....this is my personal view and experience and there are also others who had positive experiences with NR series of Marantz....best part is Denon and Marantz made by the same company D & M holdings

Do you think that this amp is driving the Tower speakers properly in OP's case?

Thanks a ton guys.... I have tried to incorporate all of the above -- need more on the cross over for the main towers.. So far, the sound seems to be nice ,,, not great.. i am switching from the logitech z5500 & hence was hoping that the difference is going to be great... still setting up the sound I guess.. tried the calibration with odyssey ..

what about the crossover for the centre?

If you are running movies off your PC then first google assassin's HTPC guide and setup Windows and Video player correctly. Select the right audio track in the movie.

Crossovers are typically set at 80-100Hz but I would seriously recommend searching for Polk RTI A7 specific thread on the internet.

Crossover is critical but there are other settings as well and there is very little information to go on here. Did the subwoofer connect fine and performing fine? Is it sounding "punchy" to you?

What source are you using to play the content?
Typically DTH, Streaming services have anaemic sound so don't use that to calibrate.

The sound improvement over a z5500 should be substantial in every way - Even without the audyssey configuration..

Do you want to add some details about what you are using for playback and how it is connected to the AVR?

Many Thanks

I have used the audessy setup... sounding much much better ---- however, my amp is cutting out after a few minutes for no apparent reason... I pwer it on and works fine until cutting off again after a few minutes... Can anybody help.. Cant find much on the internet

Try resetting your receiver. Have you got any of your speaker levels to Max gain?

MaSh

Go through all the connections again. It could be a connection issue.

Turn Auto standby OFF.

You have it in 5.1 configuration, yeah? Hopefully not in Front (L/R) + Center only.

If you suffer from low voltage problems then it can produce those symptoms too.

But IMO the amp is a bit underpowered for floorstanders. What is the volume level on the amp?

Not at all... not hot at all...

Is it to do with the amp assign... presently assigned zone 2 as all the other choices need more speakers.. My present config is 5.1
