Hi friends,

I am setting up a 5.1.4 home theatre in a dedicated room in my new flat with Dolby Atmos. Room size is 14.5ft x 10.5ft and height till false ceiling is 8.5ft. Screen will be on wall measuring 10.5ft. My purpose for home theatre is for viewing 70% movies or live sports screening and rest 30% music.

Keeping this in mind i have shortlisted these 3 avr :

1. Denon x6200w : for my 5.1.4 setup, will i need to install extra stereo amp to make them or 6200w will do the job? Also does it has less punch than pioneer or yamaha, as suggested by 1 of my dealer

2 yamaha rx-a2050 : is it better than denon or pioneer w.r.t. movies ? Is 21:9 format (i..e 2.35:1) useful ?

3. Pioneer lc-sx59 : the cheapest of the three, is it better than denon or yamaha ? Is asynchronus transfer mode from laptop/pc useful?

Please kindly suggest... thanks..

First check which of these Brands have a better or best service centre nearby.
Good After sales service seems to be a lot necessary these days, as the failure rates of AV receiver are increasing. To me I can always trust Yamaha built quality and after sales service in my area

Take an audition and see which sound you like the most.
Nowadays Pioneer elite amps are rated very well because of the Class D amplification, the lx-59 is a highly rated product.
Denon and yamaha have their own signature sound, so an audition is a must to decide according to your taste.
While going for Atmos/DTS:x make sure you use only ceiling mounted (discreet) speakers and not the upfiring ones. Upfiring speakers are nothing more than a gimmick and won't give you the expected effect.

Hi Kartik,

Trust your instincts and ears.....audition and decide which AVR suits your connectivity requirements, performance, budget and appearance....

Each have their own sound signature. Audition all choose the best based on your hearing taste, budget and service centres nearby your area.
Denon have an additional decoding format AURO 3D (on a paid firmware upgradation)over Dolby ATMOS and DTS X.
As per the latest spec of x7200, You can use height speakers -4 Nos instead of ceiling speakers for hearing all the 3D sound formats.Hope it applies to x6200w too.
