Hi Respected Forum Members
I am on sound hobby from some twenty years back and a true music lover.I start upgrading compeletly
my whole stereo set up including cables from the month of Nov.2018 and to my choice got completed my set up in the month of Feb.2019.However unfortunately i had developed hearing problems with both of my ears having high ringing noise.I consulted many doctors but did not get any relief and the doctors have strictly advised me to refrain from music listining as the same could permanently cause hearing problems. So taking note of the doctors advice i am sadly putting my whole rig on sale.I have purchased all my system components from our country India with bill and warranty. However all the syrem cables have been imported from UK with bill and warranty. All the components work on Indian power supply and are just like in brand new condition with original packaging intact. The components of my system are as under:-

NO, don't do it.
I think you need to give yourself more time before such a drastic decision.
You seem to suffer from tinnitus.
Music is actually suggested as a therapy for that.
I would suggest you see if you need to get out of music or only need to change what you listen to.
Please don't make any hasty decision.

Sorry to hear this buddy.
Hope time will make your condition better and you get back to music listening soon.
Rigs can be built again. Don't fret.

Cheers,
Raghu

Maybe the doctor is mistaken that OP uses headphones ?

If the OP restricts volume levels to under 75 DB shouldn't it be all fine ?

You must give time to yourself before taking this decision. May be doctor is correct in this regards but he may not be sure about further treatment. You may try the suggestions given by FM . It's your dream system , we all know how difficult to achieve the dream system. You will be always happy with it and may be regret in future if sell it. Keep in abyance till further information and treatment. You are always in position to take decision in future if system is with you.
Hope you will be able to enjoy your system soon ......

Please don't make any hasty decision.
Take second opinion with doctor.
You have putted lot of effort in your system.
Even if doctor is right, At least your family can enjoy music.

@Imtiyaz Ahmad ,

Very sorry to hear of your problem but do you have what is called "Tinnitus"?
There are a variety of strategies available to counter the ringing but you need to go to a specialist.

My late father also had tinnitus and he managed to still listen to his music. We found in his case that in silent conditions the ringing was most acute. A little background noise helped to counter the ringing. So do consider taking a second opinion on the condition. There are also options similar to hearing aids that provide background noise to help make the condition more bearable.

Wish you the best and hope that you are able to find something that will help alleviate the condition.

Regards

my cousin has a hearing loss in one ear .....doctor asked him to stay away from earphones/ headphones / Bluetooth devices ...whether its connected to mobile phone or any music system like ipod .....essentially anything which is close to the ear . You have earphones which goes right inside ....they are also advertised in that manner .....

I would suggest , you take a second opinion ...but till that time ....stay away from any form of loud noise which comes from any device ..
nowadays its mostly mobile phones which are the reason for this .....put it on speaker and take the call

I would suggest ...dont sell the system immediately ....just dont use it for a few months ....

Very sorry to hear, it's very clear that hearing loss develops over period of time (not that all of the sudden it starts) due to various reasons like most general cause is aging , heredity , Neurological problem etc. unfortunately it's a bitter fact that hearing/sight/memory loss can't be recovered. Keeping or selling of audio gear is your personal matter but you have to change your life style. I suggestion is since you are music lover and love to enjoy the life with music.. give some break at your level of comfort, don't quit enjoying music. occasionally open your music gears and enjoy your most favourite music records for mental peace.
Wishing fast recovery and back to normalcy

Sad to hear...
I think you are listening music on very high frequencies and very loudly... i also faced ear pain problems / head ache occasionally .
Check...Did you face the same issue while listening on other systems ? or visiting a concert hall ,or a movie theater with loud music.
Have your ears checked with another expects your ears are sensitive to very high frequencies... All human ears are subject to certain frequencies , but some will be more sensitive...

Wearing a light ear bud might help avoiding high frequencies entering to your ears.

One of the major reason of getting tinnitus is listening to music on earphones. Even i have tinnitus and I can hear 'ringing' sounds every day or alternate days so I decided to check my hearing and it turned out normal for my age!

Sorry to hear of your hearing problems, my family has a history of hearing loss so I may develop it too so can symphthise with your predicament.

You have very nice equipment real shame you're having to let go of it.

Hi Imtiyaz ,
Sorry to know this, you can try this simple yoga exercise for one month and check out if it works for you,

. Poke your index finger inside your ears (outer ears -NOT inside) (right finger - right ears and left finger left ear). Turn the index finger clock wise and anti clock-wise 10 to 15 times and repeat this 3 times.

Do this regularly for one month, twice a day in the morning and evening. This will help simulate the nerves around your outer ear enable good blood circulation.

Notes: You will need to keep your fingers clean before doing this by washing your hand with soap and water else your ears could get infected. Also trim all your index finger nails (if any) before you start this.

Also if you find the friction on the ears too much, you can apply some coconut oil on your fingers before you do this.

Wishing you normal listening experience after this.

No need to panic. Some time it happens due to multiple reasons like exposure of too loudness for long duration and even sometime due to sparkle treble. Just stay away from music listening and mobile phones for a month it will be all right.

Don't sell your equipment's at the moment and hard to collect again.

I also suffer from tinnitus although from a different reason.

- Do get an audiometry test whats your hearing loss like.
- If you do suffer from Tinnitus, then the ringing noise is worse in quiet areas like an empty room
- Do avoid listening to high levels of sound and through headphones. It would be good to use an SPL meter to see whats your current listening levels

I am not sure if selling equipments is the solution as you do hear sounds if not music in any case. So managing the sound levels and the listening periods to avoid fatigue would be the suggestion from my end.

Very sorry to hear of your affliction, Imtiyaz. Despite advice to the contrary from many, FWIW, I feel you've taken the right decision. These "objects" are material after all and when you do get better, there is nothing that cannot be replaced later. Health comes first and I wish you all the best in your sale.
I hope you recover from this soon and get back to this wonderful hobby of ours.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
