Hope the question is clear from the title.
I have a Lenovo Z570 laptop which is not having dedicated graphics card/sound card. It is having only two audio jacks, one for Mic and other for Headphone/Line out. I have a Yamaha RX-V371 receiver and I would like to send digital audio to it, to make use of the DAC inside receiver.
I am running foobar and tried installing wasapi, but no luck.

[I have HDMI out in laptop, but didn't get chance to try as I don't have HDMI cable. But doubt if audio will work in my HDMI as I don't see HDMI audio device in my sound devices]

Check if the Z570 datasheet on lenovo.com mentions SPDIF anywhere? or open the audio properties on the laptop and activate digital out. see if you get a red light emitting from your headphone jack.

If either of the above work:

then what you need is a 3.5mm toslink to optical cable that would allow you to connect the laptop to the receiver. (If you already have a cable then a simple plug like this one would do: http://www.ebay.in/itm/120925366116...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_2119wt_1143)

I don't have SPDIF in my laptop. :(
I think the next model with NVidea graphics has the same.

Thank You all...

I bought an HDMI cable today(from Ritchie street chennai) for Rs.250/-, they say it is Dell product, but don't know if it is genuine Dell.
And Yes, I am able to send digital audio signal to my 371 through HDMI and was able to hear the difference the moment I played the first song!
The audio device is shown as RX-V371 Intel display audio in my laptop

I played some DVD's as well, it is detecting both DTS and Dolby(it should detect anyways!)

Yes Spirovious. Extremely happy :ohyeah: as this does feel like an upgrade for me. I have been having SONY Hi-Fi's for years, so there is a major difference in SQ that I am able to feel.
I have been checking for Denon 1312 / Yamaha 371. I went through many online reviews and reviews in our forum as well. Obviously I have gone through your review of Denon 1311 & Yamaha 367.
And finally went for 371 as music is my priority, but can't afford a dedicated stereo amp now.
