Disappointed with RT3 as no surround effects except on Clear Voice

As @Preet3366 suggested, would selecting the rear speakers as “front” solve the issue? I did go through the thread and there were mixed reviews.
Would you recommend going for the S20, S40 or even the S500? My local seller is offering the S500 for 29k which is a decent price.
I sold my RT3 for 12k and before that moved to real time HTs with Denon x2700h. Try doing that hack if it works. The S500 is good I guess for that price.

Thanks. I’ll probably go with the S500 as I currently can’t spend more on any real-time HT at the moment.

Very excited buying Sony RT3, but disappointed on the surround channels performance. I ran Dolby Atmos and other Dolby surround files downloaded from their website, and tried different modes like Movie, Sports, Music but the surround speakers are shut off, except on Clear Voice. IDK what people listen and give so many positive reviews, probably only look at the bass and get overjoyed.
It isTrue. Surround sound works only with clearaudio sound field/ signature given in sony ht rt3 system. Keep sound levels of Surround left and right channel to +3 Db to hear all frequencies from 40Hz to 1000Hz.
Also, keep DRC on in your ht rt3. To obtain linear control of volume levels, keep CEC on. Engage digital dolby pass through instead of PCM/LPCM . Connect tv to home theater by using HDMI ARC cable provided with the system. I have been using this sound system since 2016 and is doing good job as 5.1 system. Only the little problem is minor cooling fan sound which can be noticed at low volume levels. You can't expect Dolby atmos because it is an enhanced sound codec 7.1and upwards only. But downward compatability is fine.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
