Well the lens are a critical and expensive component of the projector, how did you manage to get them ?

Some years ago i had read that some IITians had developed a compact projector for Rs.25k, not sure what happened of it.

Technician,
Please post some pictures else we will assume....

Hi Sachin,

:ohyeah::ohyeah::ohyeah::ohyeah: Another laugh of the day. Even I am planning to take photographs of my setup as soon as I get my LCD out from the service centre and post in the dedicated thread matching the components listed in my signature, just in case!

Cheers!

Technician, welcome to our forum. Congratulations on your DIY project. Please post pictures and a few words on your experience. Also, when you get a chance please post an introductory message in the "Introductions" section.

I had thought about making my own projector too, but somehow ended up buying one. There is enough information in the thread posted above for anyone to build their own.

BTW, cmsajith also has a DIY projector which is based on a 5 inch LCD monitor. Funny, I was speaking to him about this just today:)

Sure Santhosh, I shall do that as a precautionary measure:yahoo:. In all my photographs, I will insert my face with a bhakra cap, so that no one can duplicate the same. So, current date's newspapers, 2 witnesses, you name it and i have it. I am just worried about the screen becoming unusuable, else I would get my name printed on that as well.

Worst case scenario, if rules change by that time, I will change all the outer casings of the equipments etched with my name on that, e.g., Venon, Venasonic, Venotoma, Venaha! :yahoo:

Cheers!

Forget the one mentioned by Sachin. I have one that was actually a DIY project that was run in Stanford for a year, and then shifted to MIT as they had better technology. This projector has three lenses, one of which is a regular optical lens, one an LCD lens, and the third uses Blu-Ray lasers. This projector will present one third of the screen in FullHD, one third in 720P, and the final bit in 480i. You can choose which part of the screen should be in which resolution. This projector was dangerously close to destroying the market, and I was threatened with my life unless I take the projector and run back to India.

The DIY cost me close to 2 years and some 3.5 lakhs. Since I am not using it, I am ready to sell it for 20K give or take a few thousands.

If interested, please reply here itself. I don't open my PMs at all.

Cheers.
