Hi guys,

I am a novice out here with regards to everyone out here. I just wanted to know whether the present Blu ray players being sold in the market in the price range of 5 to 12 k are good enough and do they give some improved images of my present Standard DVD collection. Help is required in making a decision

please google and you will get the answers which is a big YES and please note that the player may cost you 6K but the cost of each blu ray will be around 750 at least unless you are renting them and also if you have a display bigger than 40 inches it makes some difference or else dvds are just fine

Leaving exceptions, we all connects BDP/DVDP through HDMI. In that case the quality really depends on the TVs' video engine and the Source material quality, i.e. The content of the DVD or BD.

To add with that, if your present DVD player DOESN'T have a HDMI out then the answer is 'Yes, you would get a better quality connecting even the run of the mill Bluray player through HDMI out'. :)

A BDP can definitely produce good upscaling - perhaps better than an upsacling DVD player. I have no frame of reference but I am very happy with the upscaling capability of Panasonic DMP-BDT220. Panasonic DMP-BDT220 Review

Thanks guys for the response. Please guide me to a better Bluray player. Iam using 32 inch LG full HD LCD TV purchased couple of years ago along with a LG HTIB... I wanted to upgrade it to a better system with budget around 50k (no change in TV)...

What do you mean by a better bdp? If you want better, then there is the Sony PS3.

My BDP S370 does a exceptional job in up-scaling dvd @24fps..

Check the reviews of BDP S370 in google...got very good reviews in all review site.
Also your tv needs to be good enough to display that up-scaling image properly.

A few things first. For the human eye to differentiate between Full HD and HD/HD ready content one has to view a screen of greater than 40".
Given that you have a 32" TV it won't make any considerable difference to switch over to a blue Ray only for viewing pleasure.

I'd say, save the money and invest in a decent full HD 40" and above display first.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
