Well obviously there are ways to save it. Either you can ask sender to declare a lower value or you could take assistance of regular importers to save on transit fee & customs.
Chinese businesses undervalue their products all the time. I once ended up paying $40 customs on a 2l worth equipment since the seller declared it $80
But do note not every business will do it for insurance & transparency. Also you've to bear actual amount if customs open & examine your stuff.

Depends on business to business and type of product. Many renowned businesses are open to undervalue your shipment at your consent and risk. I once got a $2k DAC straight from a renowned brand here and was bit surprised to pay nearly $40 in customs. Turned out they marked their consignment value mere $80.
