Hi All,

Can someone suggest a good DVD Player, that, in addition to playing latest Video formats, supports Folder Navigation also (up Folder/down Folder) to change from song Dir to the other - for MP3 CD Playback?

In the past, i have seen some DVD player with Folder (+/-) from Phillips But nort sure now.

Can anyone suggest this?

Thanks,
Rajiv

1) What video format support you are looking for?
2) Almost all players support folder navigation
3) What is your budget?
4) Any other requirements (like connectivity, usb, dts, dolby etc)

If you are clear in your requirements, members will be able to help you better and faster.

Have a nice time at HFV.

Regards,

Jeyaraj

as of now most of the dvd players are able to browse folders however that can be done only through their remote and not on the front buttons..

however if u can specify what is ur budget and usage.. also format support as asked by uk... we will be able to assist you for the same

Dear Friends,

Thanks for your replies!

Basically - i am looking for a Browse folder Facility for MP3 CD Playback - so that i can jump from 1 folder to the other - without having to Switch my TV on.

I know - if i switch my TV on, it will show me Folder Tree Structure on TV - and i can browse.

So - I hope - when you say most of the players support Folder Navigation - you mean - Folder browsing without TV.

Actually - i want to upgrade to a HT Onkyo HTS-3300 (Amp + 5.1 speakers) - costing me 25K in Pune (India).

Presently I have LG home Theatre (very old model) - with inbuilt Amp in the DVD player itself.
So - with purchase of a new HT Onkyo HTS-3300 - i will have to buy a new DVD player also.
I was hoping to buy a DVD player worht 4000 - with following features:-

1. having HDMI interface
2. USB
3. Folder (+/-) button on DVD or Remote for MP3 CD Playback without having to Switch on TV.
4. Format wise:- It should play all common formats. AVI, DAT,DivX, MPEG, DVDs

I know format like MKV and perhaps MP4 format - would NOT work in DVD player coming this price range.

Can u suggest some DVD Players?

Regards,
Rajiv

well for 4k u can get a good philips player which will have hdmi and upscaling upto 1080p
also theywill have coax and optical out along with a front usb port. however most of them wud support only fat32 formatted hdd or usb stick.

also few of the members have reported their philips dvdp playing mkv files upto 2-2.5 gig

rest avi, mpeg1-2 and dvd ,subtitle formats are commonly playeby all other dvd p..

i have 2 dvdp one baja and other philips will chk for folder browsing specific model... and get back to you..
but m sure the buttom which have triangle with two lines are for next folder and
other with one triangle and a single line are for a next track.

lemme chk and get back to you

Would appreciate your help with Folder searching. Its just that, how in a car sterio, we can easily browse from 1 folder to the other - it would be better to have a DVD player also with such a feature.

Re: Phillips DVDp - yeah i am getting one Phillips model no. 3368 for Rs 3500/. They are giving HDMI cable free.
One thing though - I read in 1 review that Phillips remote response time is little slow.
have u noticed it ever?

hi rajiv i chkd cpl of dvd players as well as my philips and the new bajaj.. however no options for a direct folder swap with a dedicated key..

only few i was able to find were frm local companies and a typical dvd player frm
t-series that offered folder swap. however i dont think that wud do any justice to our audio gear.

thanks friend for the paint you took.

you are right - not point buying DVD player of Local company - just becoz it supports folder navigation. However, i just found it strange - that they dont think of it as a basic feature :)

I have Zeroed down my search for Onkyo HomeTheatre HTS3000. I will borrow one friend's DVD (sony) for few days.

How do you find your Phillips DVD player?
what Video format it supports?

i am getting Phillips model no. 3368 - for Rs 3500.
It has HDMI Interface, USB. HDMI cable is Free.
do u think it would be worth buying this DVD player?

philips is a good deal.. however sometimes.. delayed remote response.. and also just like any other dvd player it will play avi files..

Hi, this is P C JHA from KGF. I too am looking for a TV independent DVD/CD player with USB playback support. I purchased Sony DVP-SR660P, but it works for menu navigation only thorugh TV display as done by many other DVD players. Can anybody suggest 5.1 O/P CD/DVD player for my music playback which works without TV, i.e. controls are on the remote and display.

As regards Folder navigation through optional, one may use Lenco boombox (available on flipkart) but it does not have a remote nor audio output socket ?!! (strange).
