Hi,

This is Moksha, I am new to this forum and going through various posts most of the members are audiophiles. I have started collecting LP records since past 2 years and have a decent collection of around 700-800 records ranging from Indian Classical, Ghazals, Pop and Rock, I am looking for a pure audio system with a turntable, a amplifier and a pair of good speakers, could the members suggest me how to go about in buying and setting up a system budget could be approx 1 lakh rs for the complete system.

please guide me

firstly imo you should decide on your speakers. depending on your room size you can decide on floorstanders or bookshelves. at that budget i would suggest bookshelves - you will get much better sq, though you wont be able to blast it. once you decide on the speakers you can look at an amp to match. if youre looking at bookshelves monitor audio rx2 is very good. if you want floorstanders then theres the monitor audio bronze series, kef q series, wharfedale diamonds... as for amps once you decide on the speakers then you choose an amp to match. ones that you can look at are nad, cambridge, marantz. i have no idea about turntables

to keep in mind while buying a system is
1. to make sure the set up suits your listening needs. if you listen to a lot of indian classical then you would want something a little warm otherwise the highs give you a bit of listening fatigue etc etc. you should trust your ears
2. to pair the system well. certain amps and speakers dont match. you need to listen to them together before you buy.

based on your listening habits and your love for LP's i would think that the monitor audio rx2 paired with a nad amp will suit your style. but dont go by what you read. go by what you hear

Contact some AV dealers and see what they have to offer in your budget.

You can contact these

Boom-a-rang - Gratin

Lakozy - I think Priyesh

Designer Audio - Kshitij

Alliance4 - Mr. Kadam

There are a few more but cant remember them now

If you are going to use only TT as a source then you should first check with them if they have a TT for demo

Also you can check with Mr. Viren of Lyrita audio. They make valve amps and phonostage with matching full range speakers
See if you can listen to the Lyrita amp and speakers in Mumbai. If you like and get hooked to the sound of full range speakers driven with SET valve amps you are set.
