Hi all, I am new to this forum and this my 1st post after my intro post. I am looking for a 5.1 speaker set primarily to connect with my pc to get surround sound in gaming and movies. So far I like Logitech x-540 and Logitech Z-506 -which seems to be affordable to me also. Later on I also plan to attach xbox360 or a ps3 to it.any suggestions //

Note: what about other brands like Mitsun,Mitashi & ,john barrell

Thanks in advance:)

Logitec x 540 is the older model and the last time I checked ( months ago) it was not available in the market. . I had to go for z506 paid 5500 for it. Performance wise, its average. Hope that helps.

Hi I own Logitech x-540 and they are value for money, but since the logitech discontinued the model, i think they are hard to find, and y dont u take a look at altec lansing they make good 5.1 systems too. and there is no way u can connect these things to xbox 360, I connected my xbox 360 like this

Xbox360-------->TV---------> logitech 5.1
(HDMI) (3.5mm)

So its just stereo sound heard through 6 channels....thats y i am building a HT:licklips:

yeah I know that, but it is better than the new model in terms of usability ( optional matrix mode and better wall hangable features)

An entry level HT setup will cost u around 23k.

Check Onkyo 3300, 3305

oh:sad:..thats way too much of my budget right now..is there any cheaper solution

Ok Here is the problem..

X540 --- Good with PC, but u cant connect them to xbox 360

Logitech 506 ----- Not as good as x540, no wall mounts, sound controls on the speaker but can be connected to console (although u will only get stereo sound)

So to get 5.1 from ur pc and consoles u should get either A HTIB or Logitech z5500 (Has Optical in) but priced around 15k.

Or else search for a Speaker system which has optical in.
