Hi all,

I think this question might have been answered a few times but I want an answer specifically to me hence I made this topic, please guide.

My LCD is Sony Bravia KLV-32V400A, which is HD Ready, now I am planning to buy Videocon D2H for ESPN HD specifically as 95% of the time I'll watch only that channel. I bought the LCD in 2008 when I don't think Full HD have made their entry in the market.

I want to know if I will get a similar viewing experience to Full HD in my HD Ready LCD which is 32in and I view from about 18 feet away.

Some of you will be having the experience of watching that, so can you please share your experience and if possible screenshots.

I would really like a quick and comprehensive solution to my queries asap, as I have got to buy D2H before Saturday.

And one more thing I would like to clear is what is ESPN HD broadcasting in India? Is it 720p or 1020p.

Regards
RD

HD DTH uses 1080i. Even 720p is better than 1080i. The difference between HD and Full HD becomes discernible when you watch it at close distance. Since your viewing distance is 18ft, you won't feel much difference. So there is no need for you to upgrade your TV just to watch ESPN.

Thanks mate :)

That means I'll get the best experience even though my lcd is HD Ready, no need to buy Full HD.

One more thing I am not able to find out the refresh rate and frames per seconds of my lcd, can someone please tell me this.

Thanks
RD

Hi R.D.

Relax and njoy the ESPN, no need to worry, coz in HD-DTH its transmitted in 1080i which ur Bravia is capable of. Another reason is in 32 inch its tough to notice the difference the HD and HD ready. Its noticible when the screen size is 40 inch or more.

Happy Buying Bro.

One thing which i should have mentioned in the original post but forgot, is the HD experience worth spending Rs. 7500 in the first year and Rs. 5000 every year there after.
I am not overly concerned about the money but just want to know the difference in viewing experience in normal and hd.

Yess definately there is much a difference, in SD-DTH you are getting 480i-576i resolution and in HD-DTH you wil get 1080i or better say 720p so it matters.
Just take a chilpil and take a visit to any Croma/Reliance Digital or any multiproduct dealer and ask the to show you both SD and HD content in Bravia 32BX320, which is a new age HD ready model and just see your self.
Thanx.

HD TV is totally worth it and is far superior to SD, specialy in India becaiuse of the atrocious SD quality that we get. In any case, what is the point of all the extra thousands you have spent on an HD TV, if you are goingto watch SD on it anyhow? Seems like "penny wise, pound foolish", does it not?

Finally got my Videocon d2h this friday and it was a great experience watching football on ESPN HD and Movies on Movies Now..

The HD Channels are expensive then other dth service providers though would like the cost to come down a bit.
