Hi All,

I am in the process of upgrading the old TV within few months and decided to go for 51 inch Plasma.( Samsung 51F5500 )

Just wanted to check will it be worth exchanging my 7yrs old CRT. It is 29" LG Flatron in very good condition. Any one exchanged CRT recently? How much I will get?

Thanks,
Sunil

You will get 1000 or max 1.5k thats all for any crt tv.who is interested in crt nowadays.Every one is looking for Lcd and leds only.People don't want those big junks to occupy their living rooms. If we dont want to sell for less means we can keep it in home as a second tv for bedroom.

I will keep it with me if I get only Rs 1000. The only problem is the space, otherwise this 29inch flat TV is much superior than any entry level LCDs for SD viewing.

Anyway I will check with the dealer when I go for demo.

All exchange offers are a hogwash. It is a scheme mostly shared with the dealer on 50-50 basis. So, if the dealer mentions that he has given you 4k, that means 2k from company and 2k from his profit. So normally the guy will say the evaluated value is only upto 2K, as he don't want to give from his own share. So that's why, though many times they mentions that there is an exchange offer but subject to dealer evaluation. The dealer evaluation will reduce the value of your current TV to 2K or whatever the company's share. Hope now it is clear with you.

FYI, you can negotiate the dealer for this price without even handing over the original item. Like recently I bought a TV, which was 77K MRP, 73K dealer price, but they included 8K from the exchange scheme, which allowed him to sell it at 65K. Another dealer was willing only for 70K after applying the exchange scheme. In both the cases you don't need to hand over the original TV.

Try to sell to private parties. You may end up getting better offers but don't expect anything beyond 5K.

Keep it with you for SD viewing. Will serve you as much as the newer plasma.
If you look olx or quikr, you will find 100s of new listings for sale every week.

We had hard time selling my friend's DRC- wega sony trinitron which he purchased for 60k initially so he kept it in bedroom and very happy with the decision.

FYI second hand TV dealers now a days selling 29 inches as low as 3k-4k if its not flat tube.
So ultimately you have 2 options:
1) Either keep with you and be happy next few years until SD becomes absolute.
2) Sell at a reasonable(?) highest offer and be happy with space.

Don't spend too much time and money in looking for purchasers. Its unfortunate but practically of no use.

Keep it with you if there is no space constraint. It will be a second tv for you/ your family members.

If you exchange it, you will get 1K to 1.5K only for TV between 14-21 inch. Bigger ones will only fetch around 1K. I had two TVS - one 25 inch and the other one 14". While exchanging for the new led, I got offer of 1K for both the tv. I decided to let go the 14" as I was unable to keep 3 tvs in the house.

Instead of exchanging, sell directly/ donate it if possible.

I sold mine for 5k on Olx, atleast post it there for free and you may be lucky too

Try olx & quickr. You will get better deal ( around 3-5k). Exchange is rubbish .
