External HDD not working with PS4 USB

Hi all,
I got a 1.5GB WD external hard drive.When o tried attched to USB port of my PS4 its showing pop up that it snot formated as external drive.THough its working fine with my TV(TCLC8)
Please help
1.Shall i format as per the instruction in PS4
2.Wil lit delete all data as i have movies/songs etc stored on the HDD
3.is there any workaround without formating it.

Hi,Please read as 1.5 TB wester digital hard drive

Your PS4 is right.
You have to format it to use with PS4 and so you will lose all the data.
