I have the e7+e9 combo and the e7 has a nice vfm wolfson 8740 based DAC chip and can be used as a good external sound card for stereo audio as well as headphone amp for low impedance iem and headphone. The E9 enables to drive high impedance headphones.

This combo works nicely with Sen- HD598 Headphone.
For active speakers it works as a pre amplifier but SQ not much difference
while listening mp3 songs,
One advantage is even in low volume it gives more sound output.
Verdict: Value for money, good for headphones,
do not expect a big difference for speakers.
