After lot of googling n reviewing reviews... finally opted to go for a samsung 3d bd-c6900.

As most the blu-rays are coming region free and the bd is a multi region dvd player plus has netlix/hulu/pandora and it plays hd divx and mkv too with built-in wifi.. Pretty decent i thought... didn't get all of these in any other blu ray..

I'm getting it in 20k from vijay sales(mum), though they don't have the stock, should be there in 3-4 days...

Will post the review as i get it!

Cheers!,

Bhavesh,
Did you check if this Player supports NTFS format? If you plan to use it for playing Bluray Rips, you will need NTFS for >4GB movies.
Hope you laready checked for the same.

I am planning to buy the SONY BDP S380 , if it is launched by Sony India because it supports NTFS and MKV files.

Look for the above option before buying the Samsung.

hey, whatever that i searched it showd that samsung bd c6900 is superior to sony bdp s380 in terms of upscaling dvd and blu ray playing. Plus it is loaded with lots of features.

plus in sony 380 you'll need an extra USB adaptor to connect net.. and it is not 3d. That's where samsung beats sony (not comparing prices)

Just an query and don't know in detail...Leave the TV apart, anything like that BD Player + glasses should match with same brand?... have you verified before with this in net.

Will the Samsung BDC 5500 support NTFS at Rs 12000/-? Any User ......
All Samsung BR players atleast since last year support NTFS. Even an LG Rs.5k worth 550 supports it. USB support is limited basically in Sony and Panasonic players and TVs only (from last year, this year they also have better support).

BR player has NOTHING to do with the glasses. Glasses connect to the TV and not BR!

Is Samsung BD-C6900 wireless G or wireless N compatible? I would say that unless it is N compatible, it will be better to buy a non wifi BDP and then add on a wifi N adapter.

hey sri,

i haven't checked man.. but i'm a little skeptical... technical the glasses should only have concern with the tv... so technically two different brand of 3d br and tv should work togather.. but u never know.. it's a new technology!! they might have goofed up.. will post the review once i've the system running!

Did you check for Panasonic BDT110, 210 or 310? The 210 is supposed to be great with loaded features. Am planning to book one at Amazon.

yeah checked all three and searched extensively about them.. my conclusion is following..

1) In terms of features they don't stand anywhere near to samsung.., samsung 6900 has almost everything.. where as in panasonic 110 to 310 they lack some features like dongle you've to get on your own, they wouldn't play all the mkv or divx hd files etc.,

2) The another reason to go for samsung one is that it'll come with blu ray b and c region compatible + dvd is region free. where as if you import from amazon, the panasonic would be region 'a' and most of the blu ray won't work(apart from those which are region free) in it..

So, i opted for Samsung..

BDT210 has built-in WiFi. Also plays all formats (specified). Anyways I don't use much of external device formats. My AVR should be able to do much of it.

Samsung plays B+C region out of the box? Didn't know that. Did you actually try it?

Let me know where you are purchasing from. May have a look at it.

Hey, just checked in the user manual online.. it supports wireless - N :)

so no issues so far..

I'm purchasing from Vijay sales. They don't have yet in stock.. will come in couple of days.. so gonna have to wait..

as far as br regions are concerned.. Most of the BR discs are in either of the three regions - only A, A-B-C(all three), or B-C(both) (as far as my knowledge goes) so, most of the B region br discs are usually clipped with C too.. only those with A region can't be played. But whatever i've seen in landmark or other major BR selling stores, even most of the US BR discs which are coming off late are A-B-C region compatible.. so i think, region won't be a much of an issue in coming days.

BDT 210 doesn't have on board memory, where as samsung has (for the bd-live feature), and i think(not very sure) samsung has more built-in streaming applications than panasonic.

Not sure about the exact price of panasonic 210 in india, samsung i'm getting at 19,990 rs.

Thanks. Samsung will soon release "D" series 2011 models. PQ and AQ may not differ much but the prices should be lower than "C" series. Also buggy features fixed - like better 2D to 3D conversion, menus and streaming. Just look out for it - inquire about the 2011 models.

210 should be cheaper at ~12-14K. Alfa may have it in stock - will check over the weekend.

Btw, I have a Sony 370 - may keep it or sell it off.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
