Hi Friends,

Please help me here. I already have a decent HT system
Denon 2310, Paradigm Speakers, Oppo BR player, HSU R Sub connected to 55"LG and Epson 8350. No doubt I am enjoying every bit of it.

I have recently purchased a 47" LG LED for drawing room. The sound is not at all impressive and is many times very low to understand the movie dialogues.

I plan to spend around Rs 10000 - 15000 to upgrade the audio of same. Specification of audio of LG LED 47LN5710 are as below

Dolby Digital Decoder-yes
DTS Decoder-yes
Speaker System-1 way 2 speakers
Audio Output (rms)-20w
Surround Sound-Virtual Surround Plus
Clear Voice II-yes
Sound Mode-6 modes (Standard, Music, Cinema, Sport, Game, User setting)
Smart Sound Mode-yes
Sound Optimizer-3 modes (Normal, Wall-Mount Type, Stand Type)
Optical Sound Sync-yes

Main considerations are , as this is going to be in drawing room, it need not be bulky and i do not want to spend much. Please suggest

1) A decent soundbar OR
2) A decent HTIB - 2.1 ??
3) What other option you suggest in my budget

Whatever it is, it has to be better than the inbuilt LED audio system.

Guys, I already understand importance of a good/real HT system. Here my requirement is something else.

Please help.

Thanks
Kapil

You already have a very good HT system.

Let's come for your TV. IMHO please don't spend much money for just connecting an audio system to TV. Just buy a 2.1 speaker like Creative and connect to the audio output of your TV. Good sound... I think so.

Look at TV sound improvement options from a company such as Q-Acoustics. These are generally available from around 400 Pounds, well withing your budget.

If you want cheaper options get a simple two channel amp, and speakers made to be attached to the side of TVs. Look at

SONODYNE

Cheers

Hey Friends,
Please help me understand

1) Will I need an amplifier
2) Will only 2 speakers Do or I need a subwoofer too
3) Aren't there some readymade options for such LEDs which can be installed on two sides of LED so that it looks also good ?
4) My bedroom is already too cluttered with the HT system and I need to maintain some peace at home by not cluttering drawing room with AV components !
5) Will appreciate if you guys can suggest some exact models instead of company.

Cheers

1)Depends on the componenets you choose... If you choose a BS speaker, you will need an amplifier for it...
2) 2 speakers are more than enough for good quality sound.
3) Yes.. There are.. Unfortunately not in your budget...
4) Understand your limitations
5) The other link given by Venkat was for Sonodyne P - Qube (2.1) system..

Anyways, here is an other suggestion...

Consider Audio engine A2 powered speakers... Around 17K... If your TV has headphone out, you juz need to plug these speakers to them with a stereo Y cable...

(or) If your TV has Analogue Out, you connect them too....

Thanks friends,

I think I do not have many options.
Am still confused about what to do. Lets see...

Kapilg, Elangoas has provided you the most simple and effective suggestion which will provide you high quality sound and will look good too.

Please check his recommendation for Audio Engine powered stereo speakers.

A FM is selling Swans powered speaker. Please visit that post, may useful to you.
Model : Swans M200MKII
Price: Rs.12,000.

While most prefer active bookshelves, given your constraints on non-clutter, I think you should seriously consider a soundbar
If you can splurge on them, a soundbar from Polk or Boston Acoustics is preferred
Otherwise the consumer electronics - Sony, Philips, LG, Samsung - would be a good enough bet

Aesthetically a active bookshelf would look out of place in a living room, on both sides of the TV. Plus actives like Audioengine excel in music, but are a little lacking in bass, while tv viewing is more often than not bass heavy

Kapil,

Have you looked at the PSB W1 or W3 Soundbars?
Imagine W3 On-Wall Speaker - PSB Speakers

I have used their regular speakers and this sound bar uses the same exceptional tweeters and mid bass drivers.

Edit: I just saw your budget constraints. As an alternative you could look at the PSB Alpha PS1 Powered Bookshelves.
http://www.psbspeakers.com/products/powered-speakers/Alpha-PS1-Powered-Speaker

No need for an additional amplifier etc. I have heard these and they are very good sounding speakers for their size.
