Hi guys!
I have been viewing this forum for quit a long time now. I m looking to buy/build a Home Theater at a budget of Rs. 35,000/- Max.

Usage 40-60 / Music-Movies.

I went to reliance digital but they had no Onkyo product so i auditioned Sony and Philips i didnt like them at all, may be because of the way they were placed.

Previously i had a budget of 50-60K n i was thinking of buying BA xs 5.1 but had to drop the budget due to some problem.

Please guide me in making a future proof Hometheater.
Tomorrow i will be going to Croma, ezone and vijay sales, also are there any good dealers in East Delhi ? I live in IP Extension

Thanks in advance

You don't say what type of future proofing you're looking for, but there are three areas you can attempt to future proof: audio, video, connectivity. And all three are in a state of flux right now.

There are 3 new "immersive audio" formats coming out: Dolby Atmos (already here), Auro3D (later this year) and DTS-UHD (next year). If you're never planning on going beyond 5 speakers or have no intention of putting speakers on the ceiling, don't worry about future proofing on the audio side.

4K video is going to get a big push in the near future. Most current AVRs, like the Denon AVR-550 you mentioned, can already pass 4K video through. But only at low frame rates (24 or 30 frames per second). For higher frame rates (60 fps), you'll have to wait till next year. But if you don't plan on ever having a 4K display, don't worry about future proofing on the video side.

There is new copy protection (HDCP 2.2) for HDMI coming next year that will allow high frame rate 4K video to pass through. There is nothing you can currently do to future proof for that, because the new HDMI chips haven't been manufactured yet.

So once you decide what specifically (audio, video, connectivity) you want to future proof for, it will be easier to guide you on what to purchase.

Hey Sanjay, WOW! so much info :P
thanks for your time, with future proofing what i meant was to add an extra sub or speaker set in near future.
Sorry i dont plan to buy a 4k Display atleast for next 4-5years.
I have Samsung 40" full HD LED.

OK, since you don't plan on buying a 4K display any time soon, don't worry about future proofing the video or connectivity. That leaves audio.

Onkyo has some relatively low priced receivers, like the TX-NR636, that is capable of supporting a 7.2 layout IF you decide to add 2 more speakers or another sub later on. The 2 more speakers can go behind you for a traditional 7-speaker layout (assuming your seating is well away from the back wall) or those 2 speakers can be placed above you for Dolby Atmos (the movie Mary Kom has already been announced for release in that format on Blu-ray).

So you can future proof for immersive/3D audio. http://amzn.com/B00IQ0SE22
