Garrard RC210 pickup arm not moving

removed the spring and it does seem like the auto-tone arm mechanism is seized. By forcing the mechanism I've been able to get it into such a position that I can now manually play records! It's progress! :D

I just need to figure out the best way to lube that mechanism without having to dismantle any of the clockwork (which I'm convinced I'd never get back together again).

I'll keep you updated, but in the meantime here's a short video:

Brilliant, nice to see the TT playing again. Lovely photography with effective panning. :clapping:

On another note, I watched the first video, it is evident that your entire tone arm assembly had ceased (not the part on the pivot, that's why you are able to play it manually). Now that you have forced it a bit here and there (and the spring indicated a stretch), you've firstly got to look under the chassis and ascertain whether any of the levers are bent or not. Since you have the manual, this wont be a difficult task. Once you're sure that nothing is bent out of shape, then carefully start moving the levers with you fingers and check whether they are moving how they are intended to. If you find some of them are not moving freely or are jammed, then tackle only that specific lever. Don't dismantle the entire deal unless you are sure how to put it back. Changer mechanicals are quite complex and take photos before doing anything just in case. Ceasing of mechanicals happens due to dried up grease, lever bend, etc. You'll have to carefully check this. Don't just pour lubricating oil into lever pivots, you'll make matters work. The muck will have to be cleaned out first before lubricating. The task is not as hard as it seems, just requires a bit of patience. Our RC210 which we are restoring had a broken off tone arm, a stalled motor, no spindle an idler wheel which looked that it had been left in a pot of clay overnight and then left to dry in the hot sun, and a broken power switch. Now, only the cart and the headshell are patiently awaited.
