Since you said Musical AVR, check the Marantz Pre-Power multichannel amplifier....Not sure abt the price....

There are 2 people in the forum who own them...You can check with them for the prices & performance...One of them is the moderator of this forum...

For speakers you have very wide range for the remaining budget

Sonodyne Avant Range (345 FS + 250 Center channel + 150 Surrounds) Approx 1.3 Lakh...(Including Subwoofer)

You can also check Monitor Audio Silver/Gold range, Paradigm Monitor / PSB Imagine / Jamo / KEF Q series / Polk RTi / LSi Range

the person is not too keen on sonodyne.
i will check on marantz...

folks any help on denon /yamaha's

for speakers.. what suggestion for kef/MA/paradigm

i feel the receiver needs loads of oomph...i guess tht would form major part of the investment.

bose isnt that bad considering it doesnt take space, packs in a punch; plus it's an integrated solution.

what can be the balanced combo i n 2L inr... ??

There is an other option if your friend is interested...

Buy a Marantz receiver which has 7.2 channels pre-out..Buy 3 x ( 2 Channel power amplifier from Norge)..Assuming that Marantz receiver is 50K + 3 power amplifiers is around 50K...For 1 lakh you will get a system which is close to Marantz Pre-power amplifier....

Adding 3 power amplifiers to the receiver is like a bomb :ohyeah:

PS : Me planning to do the same with my receiver...hence the suggestion

I really dont have too much idea about branded stuff, so I am not the right guy to ask, I suggest you see what's on offer, do some auditioning and then decide. Separates, in my view, are better than an integrated AVR, but they can be more expensive.

just an idea..if an avr is choice than amps... an avr with pre out will be good as a separate amp can be used in the chain...

the person who will be taking this setup would not be up the frills neither a lot into music.. to be true it was me who thought bout a lil more musical AVR.
so i guess a decent AVR and good speaker combo should do.

what i am here for is to ask all you folks to suggest combo's that match so i can audition them and then buy the stuff.

as i never leaped into proper HT stuff yet so asking what matches with what..
so suggest me xxx avr + xxx speakers. else i am worried about i might end up with a very bright or a very laid back setup. as listening environment wont be replicated back at 4 walls .. hence the question.

i will check on the maranatz avr suggested. please suggest speakers to match so the synergy looks good. lets keep it to only good for movies and that should be easier to find out a good combo.. budget is not very tight but under 2L would be favourable..

bose is good.. but for that money.. if hiding the speakers is not a problem we always have better options. i am saying that with
personal experience.

another question is that if we break up the cost... how much should be spend over the AVR and how much for speakers.
once that is decided i will be able to jot down on few models and start auditioning.

This is a 5.1 speaker package we are talking about, so out of the 2 lacs, you should be looking at allocating around 1.4 lacs for the speaker package.
The problem with speaker packages is that the bundled sub and centre may not be the best choice. And the sub and the center imho are the crux of the HT. Hence, i feel you should allocate more budget for the same. Fronts can be a pair of good bookshelves. Your friend can use that with the sub for audio.

we are open to have sub of diffrent brand , center+fronts of diffrent brand and surround of diffrent ones..

I second this suggestion with a slight modification. If it were me, I would just get a Marantz (May be SR6006) and then add a three channel Power amplifier from Emotiva from FL, FR and center. The receiver can drive the SL, SR and other surround speakers. In my experience, the side speakers never need a lot of power but demand a faster start / stop and the receiver's amp section is pretty decent for this purpose.
