hi guys
i have been offered the mezzo 6 speakers for 40k..it is a demo set but in almost new condition and wit full 3 year warranty..its original price is 75k..should i grab this deal or should i just go for 25k floorstanders of some other brands..m main use is music/movies in ratio 60/40..i am in the process of building my ht setup and have been through this forum and am yet to audition all the options available..i heard the mezzos and they sounded good but not that good to really excite me..i listen to punjabi songs mostly and need good deep bass along with good clarity.i need some decent reviews of these speakers..if someone own it plz share ur experience.

thanks

No reply :(..can ayone help me out.
I need a review of these speakers.
Havent anyone used them ?

Hi:

Seeing it very late, but that's a very good offer for Mezzo 6. Heard it for a short period with CA and liked it for the synergy and airy treble, bass was excellent for music. What are the other components in ur gear? - IMO, grab it!

:)

Thanks david for your reply.
Its good to hear they have good bass and at 40k i am also very tempted to buy them andmmi have been recommended ca 640 a/v receiver with these which will give 120 watts in stereo and 100 watts per channrl in 5.1 setuip.to begin with i will get this pair of speakers and the ca640 and later on add other components.what you all think of this setup.i am a bit reluctant to buy them because i have seen mordaunt short is not that popular here and there are very few who own it.wharfedale ,monitor audio and mission ,dali etc seem to be more popular here.should i go with this deal or audition thr mentioned brandd too?

Comparing diff brands is always good rather buying after listening to just one. So you know the difference ..... I suggest you to compare other brands in the same priceband and see what you like . But I am pretty sure you will yeild towards MS-mezzo's. ;)

Dmann:

Trust your ears and not popularity, IMO. But, if you're not in a hurry, why not audition some speakers with matching amps; I'm a great believer in synergy of components, any mismatch will never make you happy.

The 640 + Mezzo 6 is a good match, why not a 650?

:)

The mezzo 6 are nice speakers, but just be doubly sure of the demo set and what is covered and not covered in the warranty. Demo sets tend to be exposed to harsher environments than what we would have treated at home.

thanks everyone for the replies.
ya i will try and audition other brands too but all are not available here at my place.i will just check and find out what options i have.moreover i dont think at 40k any speaker would beat the mezzos.what you all think??

Check out the following in the same price range

Jamo c605
Paradigm Monitor 7
Wharfedale (I am not sure which one but I guess 10.5/6)
Kef iq series (if still available)

The mezzo is a higher priced speaker, but you never know, sometimes you might like something that might be priced cheaper.

Comparison of Mordaunt Short Aviano/Mezzo and Polk Rti

Thought I'll post my query on this thread as its related to a speaker that I am considering, and I guess, opening a new thread would be considered "bad manners".

I have a Denon 2310 AVR and have Bose AM10 speakers connected to the same. Now this gives me good sound for movies, but I was thinking of getting a couple of dedicated speakers to use as the "B" front speakers (as the Denon would recognize them) and use them for all 2 channel sources and use my regular 5.1 for by surround needs.

My room size is not large (about 11x14, with the width being 14feet, so listening position is about 10' from the speakers along with shorter dimension).

I would like to hear your feedback on what would be a better bet for me from below:

1. MS Aviano 6 vs MS Mezzo 2 (one if a floorstander and the other a Bookshelf). They are priced similarly (around 35-37K?). The dealer was telling me that the Mezzo 2 will be a lot better than the Aviano 6 as its in a different league altogether, did not have a long enough listening session so far to judge for myself.
2. How about if I move up to the Mezzo 6 (around 70K?) Is this an overkill for my room size? I will have to stretch my budget quite a bit, but then can do that if it is a big step up from the others.
3. And then again, views on Polk Rti A7 which I have not auditioned so far, but will soon, and I hear good reviews of.

Points to consider:
a) The new fronts will only be used for 2 channel music, a variety of music - from Rock, Jazz, western classical to Ghazals, Hindustani classical to Bollywood/Desi Rock.
b) I will not use a sub woofer with my stereo setup, the sub(or bass module) that I have already will only be used when I chose a mode as DD or DTS or whatever while watching a movie, in which case, the new speakers will cut off and my old Bose cubes will fill in for the fronts. So with bookshelves (Mezzo 2), bass will be limited as I understand.
c) At this point, I am not getting a dedicated 2 channel amp (I did listen to the CA 650A with Mezzo 2 and 6 at the Gurgaon store and really liked it!). So my Denon 2310 has to match with my new speakers.

I do understand that music tastes and speaker choices are personal and what sounds good to me may not be the same for every ear around, but would really appreciate your inputs.

Auditioned MS Mezzo 2 and Mezzo 6 in my home today and I thought I'll post the results if any folks are intersted.

Tried the Mezzo 6's first.
Was NOT happy. Clarity was missing, something was definitely not right. Was thinking, maybe I do need a CA amp after all to get sound better than my existing setup.
Then changed to the Mezzo 2. WOW! Everything became so much more open, clean - am really leaning to a bookshelf now and the Mezzo 2 is high on the list.

I am not saying the Mezzo 6 is a bad speaker - I think my room is a bit too small maybe for it?
