Hi all,

I am looking for some good RCAs for an interconnect.

Need ones which will fit wire upto 8mm (it means that they need to accept slightly large guage wire).

Not looking very expensive ones like the WBT etc.Looking for great quality but slightly lower priced ones like Cardas, vampirewire, VDH etc.

Are there dealers in India who deal in these parts ?

Promedia in Mumbai deals with good REAN and Neutrik audio and video connectors of all thinkable varieties. REAN is a Neutrik sub-brand. The costliest Neutrik is about 600+ per RCA connector (model ProFi, IIRC) but I believe it is for a normal 24 AWG cable. I believe normal RCAs are built for 6mm outer dimension of cable. Getting something to fit 8mm could be a challenge.

I have also picked up Spectra RCAs (Taiwanese brand) which is larger than normal size and paired it to a thick Spectra cable. This cable does duty from phono pre to pre. The cable was way too thick for the shell and I had to apply film of hair oil to ease the forceful fit! But as a home-brewed cable, it does look impressive:lol: but the grip it makes is way inferior to the Nuetriks which seem to have better "spring-loaded" grip.

I would recommend Neutrik or REAN as they are not too tough to source and quite good. Look for the ones made in Lichtenstein. Amphenol would be a distant second choice. Spectra is an even more distant third choice. Do take the cable to the shop and see if it fits into the sleeve opening. If it's tight, then you won't be fit it properly unless you shave think slivers off the outer insulator. Not a good idea at all!

Hi Square Wave,

We used to sell Chord RCA plugs when the distributor was SNV. They were quite ok for the price, around Rs. 350/ piece if i remember correctly. I don't think the new distributor, ProFx stocks them, you could check with them.

Regards

I strongly suggest you dont go for low cost poor quality stuff-they are poor quality, and not worth it. I had occasion to compare Cardas RCAs ( whihc a friend bought)with lower cost stuff( that I bought) and the difference in quality when compared is very easy to spot. I wont be buying low cost stuff in future.
