Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows and can recommend a good used stereo amplifier for all kind of music (but mainly rock) for around 300$, good bass is required.

I've looked into :

Marantz PM-7000 \ P-68
HARMAN KARDON 680
Yamaha AX-900
DENON PMA-860
Denon PMA-1060

Anyway what do you recommend?

Thanks in advance for any responses and sorry for my english

Welcome to HFV!

Namaste!!

Feeling, for Rock Music you require a punchy amplifier which is hot at both extremes. In the list Yamaha sounds like it:)

Welcome!

If you are open to buying used amps, you can get some real good deals in power amps. For some reason, power amps lose their value in the used market far more than integrated amps. Or at least that's what I discovered when I bought my amp recently from Audiogon.

I bought a Parasound 2125 amp (and I needed a powerful amp as my speakers were inefficient and power hungry). Its pretty good bang for the buck - high current amp that produces lots of current (35 amps) and good bass, capable of 125 watts for 8 ohm speakers or 200 watts for 4 ohms. I listen to mostly rock as well and it is working out well for me so far.

I'm not necessarily recommending this amp as I got this for my specific needs, but wanted to point out that used power amps are a good option (you will usually get double the wattage of an integrated for the same price, which usually means better bass, all other things being equal), and that you will need to match your amp to your speakers. Speakers are wildly different in terms of what they need from an amp to drive them properly.

What speakers are you using? A budget of 300-500 USD is decent for a preowned amp. If you keep an eye you can find a lot of deals around that.

+1 to FM AsliArun for that advice.:clapping::ohyeah:
Couldn't agree more. In fact I had wanted to suggest the same, after reading just the thread title, but on reading the thread, I learnt that most of what I had wanted to say had already been said.

In addition, all I suggest is that, if you use multiple sources, then look for a pre-power combo. These dont cost much, either, especially when compared to buying a used pre-amp separately.
