I think it is impossible to do what you have asked. HDMI is digital and A-V input is analogue. So an analogue - Digital converter mechanism is required. You may required to capture the video using the USB and convert it using a a Computer / laptop to do the conversion.

Enquire at the electronic streets in Bombay. ( Lamington street ?), there will be some thing avaiable.

^^ Thats not impossible, the HDMI to 5 RCA component AV Converter on Amazon does that exactly ....

Hi
Thanks sam9s and were in mumbai do you think i may find the convertor or do i have to rely on amazon or ebay?

I don't think these would work out. As this involves a conversion of digital signals to analog. And also split audio signals. Plus HDCP.

So I feel convertor like the one i listed in my first post is a must.

Beware that your CRT TV does not support HD resolution. One thing I am not sure is what happens when you send 1080p(16:9) signal in component cable. i.e will the TV automatically downscale or not. If your camera allows you to set the resolution/aspect ration for the HDMI, you need not worry about this aspect.

By the way, I have a Sony handycam. It does have a Component out along with HDMI out. So are you sure that the camera does not have other output options?

That particular camera has a AV out facility using which you can connect to your TV. You will need to buy Type3c-compliant USB/AV Cable sold by Sony. Refer this link : DSC-HX100/HX100V | Viewing an image on a Standard Definition (SD) TV | Cyber-shot User Guide
