Hello from a newbie

Just thought I would say hi to all. I am new here and would wanna learn more about this. Thinking of building a home theater for movies and music in my room. I have a 12x12 room. My budget is about $1000 to $1200 US dollar for an AV receiver and a 5.1 speaker system. Any advice is welcome. Appreciate it. Tks guyshyeah:

The following will great within your budget. The Audyssey calibration multi EQXT will more than compensate for the speakers and the room to have better sound system.

Hi, my questions are :
1. What kind of music do you listen to ? And how loud is important to you?
2. Is your room the normal brick and concrete room, about 9 feet high ?
3. You have not mentioned a dvd player - already have one ? which make and model ?
