Hi,

My name is Terry Olson and I've been an audio diy guy for around 40 years. I'm looking forward to reading about member's projects and discoveries and hopefully may have something worthwhile to share or contribute.

Best Regards,

A Warm welcome to HFV Terry !!
You will find lot of DIY Enthusiasts here !!

Thank you very much.

I've been reading a few of the threads and I'm quite impressed with the thoughtful design and considered approach that seems evident in the various projects!

Best Regards,
TerryO

Welcome, Terry!

In India a lot of people go the DIY way due to prohibitive prices of hifi gear. Expect to see DIY projects of all size and scales here.

Welcome Terry ... to India.

Some serious DIYers here, would stand to gain tremendously from your experience in speaker design.

Welcome to HFV! Your last name reminds me of the guy who designed my bookshelf speakers in the late 90's :D!

You're probably thinking of Lynn Olson, who lived in Portland, Oregon. He's smarter than I am, but I'm much better looking...(Ok, I'm not better looking either).

Best Regards,
TerryO

I see ....... from diyaudio .... that you too have executed/have experience of a number of TL designs ... some using full rangers. Quite the right guy for Hari Iyer in here, to interact with.

We shan't know till we see a photo comparison! :D
But I'm surprised how you're familiar with his name, you probably have a repository of insane knowledge over the last 40 years people on this forum would love to hear about :)
Update, no wonder! he's on diyaudio!

Welcome to HFV mate.

Any pointers on DIY? I and a friend are starting on an open baffle...

Thank you for the welcome!

My best advice on DIY is to enjoy the actual experience. I started building my own speakers and gear initially to save some money. What I found, was that I actually enjoy building gear nearly as much as listening to music. For me, it's truly been a win-win situation!

BTW: Open baffle speakers are a lot of fun to build, modify and listen to!

Best Regards,
TerryO

I've talked with Lynn a number of times over the years and we know many of the same people. Seattle and Portland are only about 3 hours apart by highway.

Actually, both of us are on diyAudio :ohyeah:

Best Regards,

Welcome Terry, I'm sure you'll find a lot of us into DIY out here. 40 years is a long long time and you're insight would definitely be as good as gold dust. Enjoy the ride. Best regards.
