Hello, Need Knowledge For Buying Music System

Hi,
I am from bangalore.Let me tell you somthing about myself and my Knowledge about music systems.
Before joining HiFiVision I only knew that Sony, Bose and ProFX are the only good music systems avilable in india. Because an average person only knows about these brands. I was about to buy a sony system and gone for demo also but always wanted to buy BIG TALL speakers. And good Bass effect. I heard Bose also but cost was very high. Then I came to HiFiVision and found that we can make good system by adding Amp. from this and speaker from that . I had gone for a demo yesterday (After reading some threads) for ONKYO speakers amp. was denon I was not impressed but they showed me JAMO S406 HCS 1.(5 speaker set in 17k /with subwoofer 45K) amp. was sharewood. Sound was good but sharewood was unknown name for me .

I am very confused.What to buy . I want to put money for good system.But I am having a lot of doubt.
I am a music lover.movies not much. I heard if you like music you should go for stereo system and if you like movies then go for 5.1 . So I gone for demo but two floorestand speakers wont give too much bass and I like Boom Boom sound. Demo man told If you want bass you should buy subwoofers.

My plan is I will buy Amp. and speakers First and Subwoffers after 8 months.
because of my budget. I can put30K now + or- 5K .

By reading my thread you can understand how much I am confused. I am not getting what to write and what to leave.

Maybe you can ask some questions about my thought and slowley we can solve my problem.

Also heard about Norge and sonodyne how are they?

BKJ the 5.1 and 7.1 setups are primarily for movies. If you are looking for a music only system do not go for an "A/V Reciever" which is more specialised for movie soundtrack sound. As a beginner setup you would do well with an "Integrated Stereo Receiver" like Onkyo's TX -xxxx series. There are other brands like Harmon Kardon, NAD and Denon which will cost you about Rs 20k - 30k. Onkyo tends to have good deals on price compared to others.

Go for either a floorstander or bookshelf speaker setup. For audio 2 speakers is more than 5.1 or 7.1! A good full size floorstander gives you the nice big speaker you are looking for and will cover the entire music range better (highs, mid and lows/bass). A good bookshelf is also an option you can consider if you are not too picky on bass. A good bookshelf setup coupled with a sub woofer can give you plenty of sound in a compact room with the big sub woofer hidden away in a corner. Prices again are approx Rs 25k - 35k. Some brands are Wharfedale, Mission, Monitor Audio, Polk Audio, Jamo etc.

You should be able to get a very decent receiver + speaker setup within Rs 40k. Hope this helps!

I need some good advice for buying a music system. I am no looking for a Home Theatre. i am lookin for a pure steroe system for music listening. A good integrated amp, 2 speakers and 1 sub woofer. my budget is around 50,000/- only. I listen to Yesudas songs. I am not looking for english rock or any of that stuff. I m interested in only pure clean yesudas kind of music. pls advice me.

For 'pure clean yesudas kind of music' buy a valve amp. Have a look at Lyrita (New Delhi) products (valve amps and single driver speakers) , Lyrita Integrated amp (15W) and Harmony -II speakers (also buy Interconnects and speaker wires from Lyrita) all can fit well within your budget of 50K. For soruce component , you can start with a good Pioneer/Samsumg/ Philips DVD Player (2-3K) . I think this way you put together a very musical system around Rs 55K.
