Hello Guys,

Started a decent home theatre hunt few weeks back. Did some web searches and visited local Electronic showrooms but found nothing satisfactory suiting my listening requirements. Did some more web digging, went through a no. of suggestions across this forum, eventually ended up pairing my RX-V795 to Wharfedale Epsidian 600 5.0.

After I auditioned Epsidian, I could not think of or find anything better and all others appeared inferior. This made my initial budget quadruple and I had to settle for a used V795. I am amazed with the way my listening experience changed. However I am not sure if this is the right combination, need your advise on my purchase and upgradation possibilities.

I ll be using this system in an 20x12 hall and dining area. I enjoy watching movies and listening regular Bollywood music and oldies. As Epsidian has a built in woofer, should I consider another sub. I have connected my Phillips Led through earphone O/P to recieved RCA. Does connecting STB via Optical make a difference.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi Abhi012

Welcome to HFV

It is all a matter of personal preferences and choices....if you are happy and satisfied with the current setup...would suggest you use it for a while then change later...

Yes optical makes a difference as it is digital sound..so if your RXV795 has optical in...please use it....sound will be more clear and well balanced.

Check the online specs of the Wharefedale OBSIDIAN 600 HCP

Obsidian 600 HCP | Wharfedale Hi-Fi

I believe the fronts deliver close to 30hz low frequencies which is decent for music and some movies...if you want lower than this (humans can hear between 20hz and 20khz)....you need to go for a sub which can produce 23/24hz....these would be 12 inch subs or 10 inch subs which cost well above 25k.....look at Taga ...

Basic budget subs operating freq is 35hz to 150hz and these would not fulfill the purpose for you....

Hi.. need suggestions on a decent AVR for my obsedian 600 5.0.. budget 40-50 K..
How good is RXV795 to drive these 5.0, can I expect a notable improvement by upgrading AVR..
