I have shortlisted the following 32 inchers :

1. Panasonic VIERA TH-L32U30D
2. LG 32LK450
3. Samsung LA32D550K1R

I like the Panasonic one, but the DCR is 20,000:1 :( .
DCR for the LG is 1,00,000:1 and no information for the Samsung one.

My main usage would be TV (SD through DishTV and would be upgrading to HD STB some time in the future) and Movies (DVD-Rip and 1080p rips).
Gaming, no not as of now, maybe later.

Please pour in your suggestions and thanks in advance.

45k will get you a 42inch plasma................why settle for 32inches!!!

Right now I don't have the space for a 42 inch. Else I would have gone for it.

Contrast ratio is just bull shit.

Any link to substantiate that ??

As per the new Panasonic 2012 line I have shortlisted the following :

1. TH - L32E5D
2. TH - L32X50D

Any ideas as to their PQ and availability/pricing ?

There are so many links in this forum. Or you just search contrast ratio the evil of hdtv cnet.

@Lijo : Thanks for the clarification on the DCR thing.

I think I would go for the Panasonic one, but am waiting to see if I can get to sample the new 2012 line before I make the final purchase.

Panasonic viera panels are awesome.
they can be viewed from any angle because of IPS Alpha Panel.
LG too Has IPS panel you might wanna check that as well also.
2012 models which you listed is I think are not yet released in India.
and they will take considerable time to launch.

Hi. Lijo

If you are looking for an interim TV till you upgrade to a larger size, do not buy expensive LED models. Stick to basic LCD that are HD-Ready. Basic LCD models are not bad either.

Otherwise, I will recommend going for LED's that offer:

- excellent PQ (contrast, colour, sharpness)
- at least 2 HDMI, 3 is available
- IPS panel to ensure good viewing angles
- local dimming (if available in 32")
- 2 USB ports
- excellent support

Following features only increase the price without offering any real usefullness:

- Smart TV
- Web browsing
- Skype
- 3D (for the moment)

Go for Sony/Samsung if you want highest contrast cause they use svpa panel..while Panasonic/Lg use IPS panel which will offer wider viewing angle but far lower contrast ratio than sony/samsung. With higher contrast ratio you will see far better pic quality.
