Help me setup Home Theatre in my new home in Chennai

Hi All,

I am looking to buy my first Home theater system for our new home in Chennai(pic attached). Budget 30k,can extend up to 40k. I have no knowledge on AVR and speakers

My requirement is two floor standing speakers,1 woofer,and two small speakers. Mostly I will play bassy music like this one Martin Garrix - Animals (Official Video) - YouTube

Currently I am in Dubai and auditioned pioneer BCS-707
Pioneer UAE - Car Entertainment, Home Audio & Video, Headphones, DJ Products and I really liked it,priced at 1400 AED(23 k),which is not available in India.


Please advise me

1) If it is worth to buy in Dubai and send to Chennai using door delivery cargo?

2) If I can get other sound systems with same price in Chennai?

Hi

Anything purchased from abroad may or may not have warranty in India. You need to evaluate the cost of shipping and possible customs and take the right decision. There are other brands like Denon or Yamaha which have comparable or better systems....you may want to audition as many systems before making the final choice.

Fortunately, in India. almost everything is available with warranty and also in the grey market. You can click on my user name to see some related posts.

Looking @ the attached picture, i think don't have much space for a Floor stander... A small satellite + Sub combo speakers will do the job for you... Subwoofer will take care of your bass needs...

Were you able to check the price of Yamaha YHT 299 there ? In India it approx costs 35K....

If you can't bring the entire HTIB baggage as part of your luggage, you can consider getting an AVR alone (For 25K) from Dubai....You can get it for a dead cheap price in Dubai compared to India....

For speakers you can conisder something like Boston Acostics for 25K Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS 5.1

@elangoas - I havnt checked the price for Yamaha YHT 299,will check over the weekend.
I think I would buy an AVT alone from dubai and get speakers back home.
Could you advise what is the average weight of the AVR?

Also please suggest some AVR models, I will audition over the weekend

Average weight of the AVR is approx 12Kgs including packaging contents....Whichiver model you choose, search for the data sheet, it would be mentioned here for Gross & net weight... You might get rough idea...

One of my friend bought Onkyo TX NR 626 for 28K 2 months back in Dubai.....If you budget permits, consider this model...

Check Denon X2000/X3000, Yamaha RX V 475/575, Pionner VSX 823/932 AVR around the same price....

If you can grab an higher model for a little more price of any brand, don't hesitate to buy....
