Help needed to connect Lap top to Samsung 32D5000 LED

Dear All,
The following is my hardware information
1-Dell Inspiron 15 Lap top supporting 1366 * 768 max resolution
2-Samsung 32D full HD tv supporting 1920 1080 max

I am connecting the lap top and TV via HDMI cable .While switching off the display in laptop and using only the TV display the TV screen becomes smaller but while using both the laptop and TV displays the TV screen is displayed properly.
I am using windows 7 .
What is the solution for this .Is there a way i can reduce the TV resolution to 1366 * 768 ?

Set TV as the sole display from display settings. After that set the resolution to 1920x1080.
